<p>Question about bathrooms – I hear that guys and girls share? But with separate showers? Is that true? And do we get little cubbies in the bathrooms to keep our shower stuff?</p>

<p>Is it weird to put up like a canopy around a dorm room bed? Ideally, the canopy would be a dark, opaque curtain or something, so my future roomie would be able to work (or just surf the computer) late at night and I the same without disturbing each other. So yeah.</p>
<p>@foodzeatr: only a few dorms have co-ed bathrooms and none of them have any freshmen in them so you don’t have to worry about that. You do get cubbies where you can keep your shower stuff though occasionally ppl have been known to take stuff that dont belong to them (that never really discouraged me enough to take my stuff out of the cubbies lol</p>
<p>@senior0991: I’ve seen that done once before with my good friend and his roommate. It’s not usual but it makes sense and most people might be intrigued by it but it’s not too weird…</p>
<p>Some freshman dorms have “co-ed” bathrooms, which means they have a common sink area and separate toilet/shower areas.</p>
<p>Do the dorms at Wilbur have microwaves we can use? That would save me a lot of moola…</p>
<p>My dorm in Wilbur had a mini-kitchen with a fridge, microwave, stove etc for everyone to use. I used the community microwave and fridge all year without having to get my own. Also, there will probably be a dozen kids in your dorm who will have their own microwave too so you can always ask your friends and borrow theirs (especially if they live next door and the kitchen is two floors away and you are lazy).</p>

While we’re discussing temperature, are the charts under “Average Climate” reliable for dorm temperatures?
I don’t like the heat (>65 F at night), but I was going to just get a fan if I needed one.</p>
<p>Haha, 65 degrees is cold for me! That’s what I get for growing up in Arizona.</p>
<p>Anyways, from what I’ve heard from students &experienced at AW, some dorms have AC so you don’t have to worry about it being “hot” in the rooms. Seeing as room temperature usually ranges from the high 60s to the mid 70s, you’ll probably want to get a fan. Just in case your dorm doesn’t have AC, or you still think it is too hot.</p>
<p>a/c’s at Stanford? I don’t think any dorms have those. What all dorms do have are heaters which turn on when it goes below a certain temperature (you can control how hot you want your room with a dial). I have a blanket now but I didn’t freshman year and I dont remember wanting one (I use mine rarely as it is). I would however get a small portable fan. It can get decently hot during the day but if you open your windows and turn on a fan you should be fine. I stayed on campus this summer too and in the summertime it can get hot but I just bought a big fan and that did the trick just fine.</p>
