Well, now that traffic at CC has reduced since the Class of '14 has got their results, I thought we might as well prepare for next year. So, current juniors and prospective class of '15, post your stats here, post where you want to apply, and post what all you plan to do before you submit that application so we all can gain something constructive and useful before we do begin the long hard wait for the fat envelope. (I secretly just want to know my competition!! :D)

Here are my stats, enjoy:

Your EC’s are pretty amazing. And you’re still searching for something that will differentiate yourself from other applicants? I’m pretty sure the “building a particle accelerator” and “building a cloud chamber observing muon decay and cosmic ray collisions” will do you justice

Possibly, but I read somewhere about a kid who had less than mediocre grades and SAT scores. He also did not do the generic ECs, well he barely had any. I think he had 3: one sport, one random, and the last one which got him into Harvard. The EC was basically him lobbying UN delegates at an international conference. Compared to him, I see my ECs as miniscule, so I am desperately looking for something that could pull me up to that level, because I heard he did that over the course of 4-6 months from the get go.

Here are my stats. Haven’t really taken the SAT yet but I’ll do that soon(:

So far I know I’m definitely applying to Duke, UVa, William and Mary, Georgetown, George Mason, Brown, and Stanford, Duke is my #1 choice!

Wow, ibNervous, you have a pretty impressive list of awards there. Your also African-American so you can pretty much get in anywhere if you get above 2100 in the SATs :D.

jebar … you’re totally a ■■■■■. get the **** off this website :)

How am I a ■■■■■? The facts that I built a cloud chamber and a linear particle accelerator may elicit that response but I should point out that they were really small scale (each costed about 300 US dollars to built).

I won’t burden people with excessive stats (edit - never mind that statement), so I’ll post a rundown:

(ideal) Overall picture - Introverted (perhaps because of disability) but introspective middle-class art/writing student who also tests well

What I have going for me
SAT score: March 2010: 2150, 770M/660CR/720W (8E), will retake in fall (I didn’t practice enough for first one, and am crushed by CR and essay scores; luckily, it’s still in range for some of my colleges)
Background: Middle-class (financial aid needed though) Asian female with hearing disability
Classes: great, will have taken 6 AP classes by end of junior year, 11 by senior; expect to pass all of them, except maybe Calc AB…soph year scores (2 classes) AP Euro 4 AP Chem 3
Art: Pretty prolific, but hopefully I can send my portfolio to colleges
Recommendations: Estimating to be pretty great
Contests/scholarships: working on it; slightly above average so far, some minor contests, shows my strength is writing/English
Summer: community college - extra courses (jumping up class levels, classes my school doesn’t have, like psychology), A grades

Unsure
Work experience ?: Temp job
SATIIs ?/U: Eng Lit or US Hist or Math II, will pick 2
Essay ?: I’m really into writing, but I haven’t even looked at the prompts for common app yet, so this will vary
Interview ?: The only college on my list requiring this is Pomona, but I know tons about the school and about my visions for college and maybe life (wow that sounded corny O_o), so I think I’d do moderately well
Major: I think my application would be stronger if I indicated that I wanted to major in Art or English. But it could also be Undecided or Psychology, so I’m not quite sure.

What’s going to slap me in the face
Unweighted GPA and class rank: Not a straight-A student, may even get a C in Calc AB this year
ECs/Leadership: Pretty bad, in some clubs and applying for board member for one but may not make it
Volunteer: Also bad, sporadic volunteering but nothing special, and not even over 20-30 hours
Athletics: HAHAHAHAno
Instruments: Absolutely none, haha

Colleges: 1. Pomona 2. Cal or UCLA 3. UC San Diego 4. UC Irvine
…You can probably guess whether I’m in-state or not

Wow. That’s a pretty impressive resume. I just thought of a great essay topic, but I don’t know if it is applicable. My idea for your essay was based on the thought that you could talk about how your hearing disability prohibited you from actively participating in the clubs you were part of, but something happened [I have no idea - could be anything :D] and you suddenly faced your disability head on and started being more extroverted. I kind of see it as an essay where you show you have a disability but your not openly saying it. I dunno, just an idea. :)

Please help me, my GPA is 8,2: Math: 6,0.
what is my chance?
