Any else you’d like to mention: Web site indicates acceptance but no formal communication. Waiting to get formal documents. ACT 34 Composite - Hoping for good scholarship. Roll Tide!

^^^You don’t have to “hope” for a good scholarship. With that ACT score and HS GPA of 3.5 the full OOS tuition is gauranteed.

Keep an open mind, @bigbird97. Although in the minority, there are lots of fellow liberals on campus, and whether you start out in Alabama or Atlanta or somewhere else in the South on your way to Germany, “be the change you want to see.” My son attended Quaker schools in Philadelphia (about as liberal/progressive as you’re going to find in the Northeast), and he LOVES UA. He’s making friends of all political stripes, from all over the country, and it’s been a terrific experience for him so far.

Best of luck to you whatever you decide and Roll Tide!

@mom2collegekids thanks for your response! I am just making sure that I have done everything correctly! The Presidential scholarship is such an awesome opportunity for my son, I just want to make sure I haven’t forgotten anything! He is registered and signed up for housing so we should be fine! I just need to find out how the Fellows program will work for him as a double major in German and mechanical engineering.

@menefrega

Your D will get the award! It’s an assured award for stats. :)

Your D will have to select a major, so unless she’s undeclared she should choose one. My son was a Chemical Engineering major as a premed student. She should pick a major, any major, that she loves and will do well in.

@amazondotmom Sorry for the short answer. My iPad keyboard wasn’t working. Your child’s scholarships will likely show up there in the spring. Right now, the only students who have something listed there are current students.

@mom2collegekids I got the pres scholarship and I’m undeclared

Any else you’d like to mention:My son was awarded Presidential Scholarship but his letter made no mention of the Engineering Scholarship I was wondering how they notify you of department scholarships

@Luigino You’ll get a separate letter for Engineering Scholarship.

OK Thanks!!! Any idea about how long after the Presidential Scholarship arrives will it take for Engineering Letter

@Luigino

The eng’g one comes from a totally separate office so there is no rule of thumb. however, some have posted getting it quite soon after.

Congrats to all who have been accepted! Can you tell me if you hear directly on the mybama portal or did your envelope come in the mail first?

I found out through the portal (because I’ve been watching this thread. I wouldn’t have even noticed the student tab otherwise) @jans1090

Also thank you @mom2collegekids . I’ll be sure to look into the Computer based honors.

The new tabs show up virtually the instant the school has accepted the student, so that would happen before snail-mail would have a chance to arrive. :)

I remember the very day that Bama started reviewing applicants, several students quickly saw new tabs show up. The system must be set up that once an Adcom signals acceptance, the tabs show up on the portal.

“Student” tab popped up this morning! So…S is in? Woohoo!! Can’t wait to tell him when he gets home!!

Yeah he’s in. Congrats! @jans1090
