SAT was a 1400 and my GPA is stuck at a 2.5 due to health problems I had at the end of my freshman year and my whole sophomore year. My grades last semester were A’s and B’s and a 74 in AP government
What is your M+CR score?
Have you signed up to take the next SAT?
Never mind. Already asked!
i dont think i’ll get a chance to take it again because the isn’t the application deadline feb 1?
That is the app deadline, but that’s not the last test accepted. When can you take the test again???
Who is your area rep? you need to contact him/her to have them help your case. Also, tell your rep that you’re willing to take an acceptance on probation.
Hello …My D is going to University Days on 2/16 and was wondering if anyone from Western New York was also planning on attending in Alabama
Hi all,
I have a few questions that experienced minds will no doubt be able to shed some light on.
Does UA ever make any exceptions to the scholarship distribution, he’s so close? Totally melted on the math portion for some reason. DS is scheduled for the January SAT, but I suppose it would be too late for scholarship consideration, right? We really need that extra $ (presidential) to make it work.
He would qualify for a Pell and that’s about it from Alabama, I think. Is workstudy available? He would qualify.
Filled out the scholarship application by the deadline.
Any experience with the possible scholarships awarded later? His rep. said that many times those additional scholarships make up the difference between Pres. and UA.
I guess he should apply for the Honors College now too. I really want this to work out for him. We believe it’s a perfect school and he does too. It was his first acceptance!
Boy, if he were interested in engineering . . . .
Awarded the 2/3 scholarship!

Have you visited the campus?: No. Most likely in Spring

Applying to the Honors College?:Yes?
Career goal(s): International Business
Hi, I know it’s frustrating! Sadly, a 1360 may “seem” close, but even a 1390 won’t get awarded the Presidential.
There really can’t be exceptions in this regard because likley there are 200+ applicants with 1360-1390 M+CR (or ACT 31) scores.
Yes, he might get work study but that won’t pay tuition. That is essentially “pocket money” because it gets paid periodically like a job.
Technically the Jan SAT is too late, but you never know. If he were to get a 1400, then all you can do is politely appeal to the “top dog” with the “argument” that Bama will be using that SAT score for reporting purposes, so … If your son gets the 1400, then PM me.
Did he take the ACT?
What was taken 1/14? The SAT again?
How much would he get as a Pell Grant? do you know your EFC??
You are right…if he were interested in Computer Science or engineering, he’d have full tuition…plus 2500 per year.
Hi! I have visited this site several times & this board is great! There is so much helpful information and
@mom2collegekids you are wonderful about trying to make sure the information here is accurate. We have visited campus several times (both group visits & individual) and we have been VERY impressed with everything. DS is still undecided but UA is in his top 2. He is attending the UA honor band clinic this weekend so hopefully he can make a decision soon.
He paid the freshman deposit & applied for housing in early October. I know Bama Bound registration has opened but since he is still undecided I was wondering if anyone knows how quickly the early honors sessions fill up.

@2kidsinky beautiful is an understatement
My daughter has just discovered, since it is a snow day here, she has 19 emails sitting in her UA mailbox, unopened including acceptance to Honors College! Guess she will be catching up on those things. Getting very excited about our upcoming visit, which the recruiter has scheduled in detail for us. Can any experienced UA people PM me if you have detailed knowledge about how AP credits can apply to the core? I know that some will apply ( I saw the list on the website) but still confused about the “required” 2 semester lit or history sequence, the foreign language sequence, etc.
Just got my acceptance last week and I’m very excited about it!

Welcome!!! I feel bad that you didn’t apply before Dec 15th and you would have gotten a full tuition merit scholarship.
Are you a NMF?
@mom2collegekids
Thanks! Turns out I checked my email and I had applied before December 15th, for some reason though, my application fee waiver wasn’t received until much later in February. I’m not sure if this will change my eligibility for the full tuition scholarships even though all other components had already been received. I still haven’t received anything about it in the mail. I just got the admissions certificate two days ago, not sure when the financial aid notification would come in but I am quite worried.
And no, I am not a nmf.
Scholarships do not come thru financial aid. I sent you a PM as to what you need to do. Read my Pm…
After months of deliberation, I have finally committed to The University of Alabama. ROLL TIDE! I have been awarded the Presidential Scholarship, and that was very difficult to turn down.
However, I am wondering if I can still receive the extra money from the college of Engineering… My projected major is Microbiology, but will they let me alter that on mybama, in order to receive the Engineering bonus? I actually intend on pursuing engineering/biology
Yeah you can change your major to engineering in Mybama. It will take some time for that 1250$/semester extra scholarship to show up
My son is from Connecticut attending the University of Alabama in the Fall, anyone driving to the northeast for
Christmas break?
