..is competitive! Who thinks this class is probably the most competitive class in high school at this time? For example..we had 1 person running for vice president last year. This year, we have 5! And I think this class is competitive all over the nation..we'll probably have a hard time when application time comes :(

everyone thinks their class is the most competitive, infact class of 2006 has had the highest ap average and psat scores for more than a decade or something like that... then again i think my sister's class (2003) is so much smarter than my own... it all balances out in the end... all i can say is don't worry about the applications now and just have fun... :)

The class of 2006 has the highest ap average so far. We'll beat em :p

Yeah we all need to chill. People don't know how to chill anymore. At least not in my class. Blhasfldahlh.

Competitiveness is always increasing don't you think? At my school, the freshmen, class of 2008, are seriously CRAZY. Arrrgh..they make me feel stupid.

Oh well, CLASS of 05!!! -.-

i don't see how you came to the conclusion that the class of 2007 is competitive across the whole nation.

My class is only competing for "highest percentage of drunks, potheads, and other miscellaneous druggies". Very few people are even remotely interested in academics beyond the basic IB Diploma requirements.

People here have a very high sense of entitlement -- "I'll get in anywhere with the IB".

Some junior told me that class of 2007 was very competitive overall in the nation. I don't know where she got it from. Yeah the freshmen are pretty smart. The competition for druggies seems to be prominent in our juniors.

Seriously though, I live in rural VA where academics isn't really a big deal, and I think all of our class doesn't have a GPA below 3.0. If you told our principal that you were graduating early, he'd shoot you. He hates all attempts at skipping classes or anything like that. But if you told him the football players had to miss 2 weeks of school to compete in a national competition, he'd probably stop funding of school lunches for a week to give them money. There are less than 5 academic clubs available around here, and our class still competes with each other for the highest A.

Really? My class doesn't seem as competitive as the seniors class of '05. As a collective group, we're pretty average...

No offense to the juniors at my school, but they're not very competitive at all. It seems like most don't really care. There was only 1 A in AP Chem from them in all classes and this year, we have 20 A's.

Adding to my post, the current freshmen are too busy trying to be black to pay attention to grades. Everyone else has started making jokes about a "Club for the Racially Confused".

(No offense to anyone -- I have many black friends, but these are all rich white kids. It's ridiculous.)

Our class is the most competitive in years. The average GPA for the top 10% is about .2 points higher than both the senior and sophomore classes, as well as having higher SAT scores among the top 10%. Of course, it's still an average public school, so it isn't that tough.

I've heard that the class of 2007 at my school has the lowest average GPA we've had in a long time (some students are actually failing). The class of 2006 is the one that's insanely competitive. However, I think it all averages out in the end.

Yeah I guess it does average out in the end. Some of your all schools are completely different from mine.

sarorah, i thought you were a senior (c/o 2005).

at my school, everyclass behind my class of 2005 is terrible. they are full of druged out, careless turds. honestly. after my class graduates, my school is doomed. last years senior class was good, though.

heey... i'm glad i'm part of an insanely smart class! one that will hinder my acceptance to a good school... haha

At least all of us '07 graduates are all in it together...It will have an impact on everyone, but they'll still need to accept some...

A recent article in Time or Newsweek said that the Class of 2009 will be the most competitive, and from that point onward, competition will level off.

On a personal note: While I think the Class of 2006 is competitive, I've seen many smart, hard-working people tank this year (junior year) due to too many APs and stress.

or maybe they weren't really smart... just hard working?

In my state class of 2007 has Adam Hesterberg, WIlliam Johnson, and Jeffrey Wang -and a lot of people almost as good. So... I'm scared.

Anyways umm... I might just join the class of 2005 if the local univ accepts me.

i think when you average it out, class of 07 will be comparatively similar to the other classes. i dunno, our class here at our school is pretty competitive, but last year's class was amazing.

In our school everyone's competitive but it's tends to degrade after the class of 2006. Sophomores here are more like enjoy type and for some reason I can't quite comprehend like to make fake quotes about the principal and think it's cool. Kind of stupid. I can't really see the class of 2006 as smart. In AP chem like so many people are like struggling, and inAP US they just don't read the textbook and get B's and C's. THey don't really care. Even a friend I have is kind of slumping. He's pretty smart but his A's have currently dropped to D's and he even has a F. I hear that our school is competitive from other students but I sure can't feel it esp. when everyone's aiming for W&M and UVA at best. Some aim for ivies or competitive schools but many are considering JMU and Vtech albeit they are in AP classes. I find it sad. To give proof about our school's competitiveness, our school was ranked in the 100 most competitive public schools in America. I think it ranked in the 50s. Also our scale is 94-100 A, 90-93 B+, 84-89 B, 80-84 C+
