The year is finally over. I'm miserably happy. I don't know about all of you, but I can't help but look back on how much Hell me and my friends went through as freshmen. I cry for joy that it's finally over. Freshmen aren't physically mistreated in anyway. But, the year is so gruelsome that every year freshmen leave the school because of it. I feel bad for the incoming frosh.

So, down to the point:

In your school, how are/were the freshmen (you) treated?
Are you glad that you've lost your fresh status?
What are some of the things in your school that make you hate being a frosh?

I'm not a freshman, but I'll tell you anyway.

Freshmen were not addressed. Nobody cares. If you're in band or something, anything stupid you do is expected and they don't care about you. Girls athletics are pretty good to freshmen. We all help each other and good freshmen athletes are impressive.

Yes. Very much so.

Freshmen can't join certain clubs. You're too young for this and that. You don't know what's going on. And just the fact that you're a freshman. Its annoying.

Freshman were like dirt. No one cared. I got the worst teachers. We realized freshman really had no impact on admissions.

Yes I was. Because they catiously started me out in easy courses thinkign i was stupid or something. Well, I did manage a 3.6 weighted...which was 2nd decile rank.

I got all the worst teachers who had the most severe grade deflation. It was hell for me. I put it in my college application and the admission officers probably acknowledged the difficulty. Also...being freshman was horrible because teachers did not care about us and focused on the upper classman.(teachers usually taught 9-11th graders)

OVERALL I was happy that I overcame this freshman year instead of the other years. It really made me focus all out on my studies

freshman are actually treated pretty well. sure, for the first week or so, the upperclassmen may play a practical joke on someone, but it's not like a huge thing or anything. Once time progressed though, generally freshmen weren't harrassed anymore.

although i like that i'm moving on to become a sophomore, i am dreading the work aspect of sophomore year. freshman year was fairly easy for me, but now as i'm taking a much more difficult schedule plus it's a year more advanced, i should be doing a ton of more homework.

the only aspect that i didn't like about being a freshman at the beginning of the school year is that since students come from a wide range of areas, the first few weeks can be lonely as it takes a while to make friends. otherwise, i enjoyed freshman year.

I'm a rising junior, but here are my experiences with the rising sophomores.

Quite a few of them have skipped one math class, which is cool. A few of them are standing out next year by taking AP classes; the standard protocol was that AP was reserved for juniors and seniors - lame.

A disturbingly significant amount of them are extremely rude. I don't care how many times a freshman been held back, he does not have the right to mouth off to a senior or even a sophomore :p

When I was a freshman, our class was a test group for a new "smaller learning community." The traditional pass rate was 50%. Our class's pass rate was 92%. So, our school implemented the idea of "smaller learning communities." I think this rising freshman class has reverted back to old tradition :D

Freshmen at our school aren't really beat up/thrown in lockers, that sort of thing, but the upperclassmen do tend to treat you like you're inferior to them. It's all in good humor though, no one really hates freshmen: they just enjoy psyching them out.

Yeah, I'm very glad to be a sophomore next year. Can't wait to freak out next year's class.

It's hard to get officer positions (like president, vice pres, treasurer, etc) if you aren't a junior or senior. Also, the upperclassmen sometimes refuse to tell you things, like when an important event is...

*In your school, how are/were the freshmen (you) treated? *
A junior threw a whole tomato at my friend. And he couldn't do anything because the guy had heaps of friends around him and he was a "junior". It was pretty funny though.
Right now, I treat freshmen pretty much the same way - threatening to give out detentions if they don't pick up rubbish next to my foot.

*Are you glad that you've lost your fresh status? *
No. i wish i could go back and participate in more ECs. Homework was easy and tests were just tests that didn't 'count'.

What are some of the things in your school that make you hate being a frosh?
Sophs and juniors pushing you to get to their lockers/bathroom/etc..

I'm a rising sophomore, so yeah. Hm. How was freshman year?

In your school, how are/were the freshmen (you) treated?

Good enough. VERY warm welcome at the beginning of the year at freshman orientation, but shunned by some juniors/seniors over the course of the schoolyear.

Are you glad that you've lost your fresh status?

Yes and no. Yes, because I'm closer to getting into college (lol) and because I can finally take AP's of classes I'm really interested in, and no because there are so many things I wish I knew about high school that would have benefited me if I were just starting freshman year over again.

What are some of the things in your school that make you hate being a frosh?

Nothing huge, really. I just found it annoying that I discovered so many things so late...

Believe it or not, most of the freshman that I know (including myself) were look up to by many sophmores/juniors. We're supposed to be the "smartest" freshman class our school's ever had, with 9th graders taking courses that are usually reserved for sophmores and juniors and in some cases, seniors. Interestingly enough, some of the freshmen have taken to taunting the juniors and making THEM feel inferior. Of course this is usually done as a joke or something, but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my freshmen year.
