Looked at the Composition numbers for USNA as of 10/31/05 and the Class of 2009 is hanging tough. Figures show that 49 plebes have left from the original 1227. (I know the Class of 2009 profile states there were 1220 but the Composition numbers say 1227. Don't know why they are different. Could it be that there are 7 holdbacks from Class of 2008 that are classified as 2009?)

Don't have equivalent numbers for USMA, but during Parents' Weekend at West Point in mid-October, superintendent said that the Class of 2009 had lost about 75 plebes out of original 1251.

The reason for the discrepancy in the numbers for USNA 2008 is that there were actually a few mids who were brought in AFTER I-Day. One of them was a friend of my son's! Imagine his surprise~he found out his friend was there when they literally bumped into each other in the P-way. They were slightly behind the power curve (I believe 10 days to 2 weeks behind) but they are fully integrated now and are no longer considered the "Aught eight late" group.

When did they put the air conditioning into the rooms at USNA? And when did they stop teaching them how to march? Seems to me that would have a big impact on retention!

USNAmom: Got the composition report from the USNA site. Each month a report is produced that shows the composition of the Naval Academy in terms of gender, ethnicity and class.

To caculate the dropout number, you need to have the beginning figures that are included in the various Class Profiles.

For the 4 current classes, the beginning numbers are:
