Class of 2009

I got my acceptance this saturday. I'm pumped. It said something about selecting a class of 395 out of 2600. I had no idea it was this competitive!

It is competitive, but not quite as bad as what might be inferred from the letter. In order to fill a class of 395 they will probably have to offer admission to about 1300. Historically, if one believes Princeton Review statistics, about 31% of applicants who are accepted actually enroll. Acceptance rate would b about 50%.

I got my acceptance packet today! Yay! I was worried because my classmates found out three weeks ago.

Congratulations Sunkist and to all acceptees! Would love to know the stats of those who have been accepted. My D hasn't heard yet and Whitman is one of her top choices.

stats:
3.9 gpa (all AP except chemistry and didn't take physics)
1400 SAT
fair amount of ecs:
ASB sports etc. not outstanding in any though
only job is tutoring
see it isn't impossible for a normal person!

Good luck to your daugher, LuckyMe!

stats: 1410 SAT, 740 bio, 710 math IIC, 700 writing SAT IIs, 3.8 UW, hardest class load, private college prep school, lots of ECs and several leadership positions

Good luck to your D LuckyMe!

Its my first choice too... and I'm beginning to feel the burn. Everyone seemed confident I'd make it in... now I'm not so sure. o_o;;

To everyone that has been accepted....Are you thinking about attending Witman next fall?? What other schools are you waiting for / what are your top choices??

Are there still people out there who haven't heard from Whitman?

Stroper: hey, yes I am definitely considering whitman the only issue is $$$. I am waiting on university of chicago, notre dame, and northwestern. This is really my only "top LAC" because the other schools I applied to (university of portland, U of WA and others) were pretty much safeties that I wouldn't mind attending. I most likely will be attending one of those lesser known schools because I refuse to graduate with piles of debt, it just isn't worth it for me because while I would like to attend graduate school I am not looking to get into the most competitive or prestigious ones.

YEs Caligirl87, there are loads of international students who haven't heard from Whitman yet!

I live in WA and I still haven't heard. :( I'm beginning to think I have a nice little rejection in the mail.

Don't give up hope so early....We can do nothing more than wait till April 1 and getting tensed is going to make this wait even more painful.

Don't worry about being rejected. I live in Seattle and haven't recieved a letter either. I called the admissions office and apparently they are pretty behind. They are going to be sending letters out sometime next week.

what a relief! im an international student too...i was so worried about wat took they so long to send whatever decision it is T_T...Plz post here to inform us (the rest who are waiting :D) when you receive your mail :) Thank you very much ^^

Anybody else who have recently heard from them??

PS: Whitman will send email decisions to internationals!

No word from Whitman, my S. has heard from Reed (accepted) also waiting on UChicago.

They bring a few kids to Walla Walla as part of the process of choosing the most prestigious merit scholarship recipients every year. They want the candidates to see the campus and they have to interview them, that's why the expenses-paid trip. It's really not all that sketch.
