So, after reading all these admissions threads I'm wondering...out of the kids who got in...who's actually going?

I know I am.

So, after reading all these admissions threads I'm wondering...out of the kids who got in...who's actually going?

I know I am.

i MIGHT. wash u is my second choice. we'll see if i get into my first choice...

I'm going! I wanted to go to Wash U but I had no choice because it was THE most expensive university on the list. Now that they offered me a scholarship (not a whole lot of money but it still made the school affordable) why not? :D
I am rather scared that the rich/posh/mean/racist kids I only saw on movies might be there, but that's life - you can't go on if you just stay in once place!

i know what you mean - i terrified as to how my going through j.prog will affect my life there- but someitmes you just have to risk it.

don't worry about mean people - i've heard that wash u has one of the nicest student bodies in the us, and no matter where you go, you'll make friends...

for all wash u 2009ers --> go to livejournal and join the washu2009 community - meet up with your future classmates!

What is Jprog?

january program - it means that they wanted me, but not enough to set aside room forme at the beginning. so im like guaranteed replacement for someone who transfers/graduates early/drops out etc...

I go to FSAP (summer school), then to campus approx. once a month for a weekend to take a class for j.proggers, then start full-time in Jan. meanwhile i stay home and intern, work, travel, take classes, etc......

good thing i love wash u this much, i dont know if i would do it for any other school

Wow. That's some commitment there. I'd love to see you around campus come January. Thats only 3 months you'll be missing out. Don't worry!

People like you make me happy that I applied here early, while others told me not to. =)

I know - and I'll meet people at FSAP and when I visit, that's what I have to keep telling myself to be really ok with it, because I really am missing out on a lot of the experience.

Wash U is an incredible school, I really think it's perfect for me and can't think of what this time of year would have been like if I had thrown out their first mailing, like I almost did. I totally think applying early was a good move - I did it too and was deferred ED...

See you there!

I might go.. but I am still waiting from a couple other schools to which I have applied for a scholarship.

I'm not going. Waiting for other schools with better money.

I'm definitely thinking about it, but I didn't get any financial aid, so if I go, I need to pay the full $40k+. It all depends on what the other schools offer I guess.

Yeah...i was considering going, but after receiving a letter just now saying how i wasn't eligible for financial aid, washington university has become my last resort =/

They said that? Directly told you that you weren't eligible for Financial Aid??? WOW.. didn't know colleges would do that.. :)

I as well will have to wait until I get my financial aid offer back (expecting it in a few hours...). I'm not getting my hopes up, though. If I don't go to WUSTL, I'll go to one of the great public colleges in Kansas that I can go to almost for free.

They also told me I wasn't eligible for financial aid, but I'm going there anyways.

I got a Gustav Kurt Mesmer Scholarship for $25,550 plus $6,625 in loans/work study. That with any outside scholarships that I might get certainly changes things for me. Now I just have to work on my parents...

Grats on the scholarships. You're very lucky. I think I'm probably going to end up having to pay the $40k/year. :(

According to my son, Wash U is an amazing college! My husband and I pay the full tuition (except for a small scholarship). Sometimes people say that you get what you pay for. My freshman son says that Wash U is wonderfu. Therefore, I think that Washu has been worth the extra costs..He also says that Wash U students=extra super nice kids!!!
