Class of 2010 email addresses

Hey. I'm waiting desperately for my email address so that I can create a facebook account. does anyone know whether we can just make one before finding out, and if so, what the format for our email address is going to be. I think it's first.last@darmouth.edu, but i'm not sure.

Nah, you don't make one, it's already made for you.

<a href="https://basement.dartmouth.edu/dispatcher?p=webblitz.createFrames&h=webblitz.ForceLogin%5B/url%5D">https://basement.dartmouth.edu/dispatcher?p=webblitz.createFrames&h=webblitz.ForceLogin</a>
or download the blitzmail program.
user: first.middleinitial.last (ignore the middle initial if you don't have one, like me)
password default: last 8 #s of ssn (or just leave off the first number :P)

thanks a lot...I've been searching like crazy for it

What if I dont have a SSN?

Then you probably have to wait until orientation. :(

It's even simpler. Go to the Dartmouth Home page and enter "people finder" in the search field, then click on People Finder: the Dartmouth Name Directory, which takes you to:

<a href="http://www.dartmouth.edu/dnd/%5B/url%5D">http://www.dartmouth.edu/dnd/</a></p>

Enter your name, and your info should come up, including email address, Hinman Box number, etc.

btw, none of this requires a password -- just basic Web search.

^^ But I'm pretty sure they need a password to do what they want to do - log in (and click a Facebook confirmation link :D).

Umm . . . why was there 294 spam messages in my blitz account when I first logged in???

If you don't have a social security number, I believe you can use some variant of your birthday to log in, such as mmddyyyy, though I'm not positive. You could always just call the help desk (603-646-2999), though I'm not sure if they're open or even willing to help incoming students yet. Maybe worth a try though.

As for spam...blitzmail has a built in spam filter, it just needs to be enabled. Once logged in (using the blitzmail application, not webmail), click on the green folders icon on the left hand side. Create a new folder named spam or jusk, or something similar. Set the expriration to a few weeks, the click ok. In the bottom right of the folders window, choose the folder you just created from the drop down menu. Set the theshhold to around 7 to start. You can increase its senitivity if needed. Messages blitz thinks are junk will be sent to the folder you created, then deleted after the expiration period. One should check the folder once in a while to make sure that legitimate messages don't get sent there.
