It's probably wayyy too early to think about this
But I just made a list of all the colleges I MIGHT consider applying to and it came out to be close to 20!!!
NO way I'm applying to so many but wow, no idea there were so many that I was "interested" in.

I'm probably going to cut the list to around 12ish by this summer (that STILL seems like alot..hah but I DO know some people applying to around 20). And trying to get started on my apps before the school workload gets crazy.

How many are on your list right now?
How many do you plan to apply to?
When are you going to start on apps?

Just curious..:)

Hope everyone is enjoying their winter break!

Every time I find a new college that I'm interested in, I seem to cut a different college from my list. For example, I was really into Harvey Mudd until I heard about Carnegie Mellon.

My list has evolved so much that it might become alive at some point.

Haha I'm the exact opposite of book_worm
Everytime I find a new college..I just added to the list and then can't decide what other college I want to cut from the list...so they ALL end up on there.

I've got a LOT of reaches though..
and a lot of safeties I guess too.

I have.. 6 or 7? I guess I'm a bit on the picky side, i.e, the campus has to be good, the food has to be bearable, the school size has to be on the smaller size etc etc.
I don't know how many I'll apply to, but hopefully not too many, those applications are so freaking expensive! I'll prolly apply rolling to a safety, EA to top choice and then 2 or 3 others Dx

I will start applications in the summer, a senior friend of mine suggested taking a look at this year's common app. questions and mull it around, I might do that too...

gahhh, I get stressed just thinking about this

I know four I'm definitely applying to, but the list that I'm interested in is 10-20 colleges long. Lol, in the end, I hope to keep it around ten or less (don't want to bankrupt my parents with college app fees :p). I'm planning to ask teachers for letters of recommendation at the end of this year and start writing essays over the summer.

Though hopefully, I will only have to apply to one (MIT EA) so we don't have to spend so much money on applications.

Hmm I haven't thought about asking teachers for recommendations at the end of this year...maybe I should (I was going to do so the very beginning of senior year since most of them won't start until then and alot of them want a copy of ECs,transcript..etc)

Anyone else asking for recommendations at the end of the year?

Yeah app fees are crazy! my parents said max. of 20...but no way I'm going over 15.

man i feel like an underachiever in the college research department haha. i don't really know much at all. so far i am interested in middlebury, bowdoin, and a few safeties...i need to do more researching!
