CLASS OF 2010, lets meet one another...

To start off with, I'm Davency, I will be attending UdEL possibly as a Comparative Literature major or international relations and Premed. Depends on my performance during the 1st semester, I "might" switch to the honors program.
How about you all?

Lindsay...might switch to honors too...university studies

Marianne, instate, business management major and hoping to get an English minor...honors...yay!

Van (short of Vannessa), thinking of double majoring in chemical engineering, and mechanical engineering <or electrical="" engineering="">, minor in math.
I didn't get into honor program though, sucks!!!</or>

Don't worry about Honors - the university is VERY reputable independent of the honors college. No matter how talented you are, the Honors College might not be a good fit for you - or the courses might be more limited.

You DON'T have to be in the Honors college to be around smart, bright, well-informed and talented students.

I just became a UDel student .... about twenty minutes ago - and I am so excited!!! I am in the Honors program looking to double major in political science and three languages. I was so nervous on making a college decision - but I am so happy now!!!! I am from PA - anyone else?

Hey...I am from India and will be attendin UD to major in ChemE....
I might also shift to the Honors program after a year (depending on my performance)...so where is everyone staying ???????

GUYS!!! HELP!!!! I have a question. I just talk to some of my friends and found out something weird <never heard="" of="">. If I'm majoring in ChemE, will I be able to do double major in another engineering? I know some schools doesn't allow some specific classes that is not about ChemE. I dont know what to do, anyone know where I can find out what I can and cant take???</never>

Odds are, if you are majoring in ChemE, you won't have time for another major because the workload is very heavy and very challenging.

That said, if you are still interested, call the admissions office.

They actually did a study on how many hours does an engineering student have for free time. And the result turns out to be 50-60 hours/ week. It is based on 8 hours sleep and classes... See what I mean? We have plenty of time, that's y I'm thinking of doing double major. But thanks anyway >_<

Are you talking about ChemE at Delaware because it is NOT the average program, but a top 10. Not trying to convince you out of a double, but I'd wait to see how you handle the rigor before picking another. In fact, I think that is a requirement.

It's been my experience that SOOO many students want to double major, but when that translates into the hours and hours of extra work, most decide against it because their grades start to suffer.

I know it is. But my interest is not just chemE, but many other stuff. So I don't wanna narrow myself in just one field of study. I'll try anyway. Let's see if I can survive through 4 years and beyond that.

I strongly advise against doing a double major with chemical engineering. I know VERY intelligent individuals who have spent more than 10 hours in the lab in one day doing work.

actually, there are plenty people in UD double majoring in chemE too. I hope if they can survive, same to me. I'll try. Anyway, I don't have to declare my major til 2nd year rite? y bother, lol

Hey all, my name is Greg and i actually just put a post up to meet a bunch of people, guess i should have checked the other posts first, lol. I'm from a small town in CT and will be going to UDel with two other kids from my class. I'm a Business Management major and just wanna meet people before actually moving in.

Hey everyone! I'm Julie and I will be an accounting major at UDel next year. Does anyone know when we get our new e-mail addresses because I want mine to make a facebook!

From what I remember from my friends who went last year, you don't get an email address until the summer, after/at Delaworld. Quite a long wait, I know. I'm getting slightly ahead of the system by just doing a high school facebook, and then once I get my college e-mail I'm merging the two accounts. It's already addicting!

yea, the UDel website says that you get all your info at Delaworld. I can't wait to get all my info, especially roommate and housing. BTW where did everyone apply to live?

Heeey. I'm Maureen and I'm a psyc. education major right now. I applied for Lane and Russell, but I think it all depends on what FYE you choose so we'll see. how about the rest of you?

i'm hoping for russel, from what i saw on the floor plans they have the biggest rooms and it's pretty close to everything
