Hi, I'm applying to Emory for regular decision. Could one of you read over my common app essay and give me any feedback since you guys are already in? I'm trying to get as many opinions because writing's definitely not one of my strong points and the whole college process is freaking me out! I hate posting on an unrelated thread, but most of yall's pm boxes are full :/

glad to help... but... i should clarify that my school does not officially rank... soooo... Emory doesnt exactly know that i'm only top 14.67% lol...

I was wondering what you guys thought of my chances for Emory ED II Any feedback would be great.....

Any feedback would be great, my GPA is a bit low so Im nervous... Thanks!

i think you've got a pretty good shot. the GPA is a little low but i don't think it will destroy your chances. you have really strong ec so it should make up for the lower gpa. make sure that you have done a lot to show your interest in emory though (video visit, information session, etc.) because this could help you even more. good luck and hope to see you in the fall.

The 1430 and 800 IIC are very competitive and a 3.6 is fine as long as its in a tough schedule (honors/AP), which it seems like it is in your case. Applying ED I think you are in, if you apply regular, you'd have to display a lot of interest as amadani said.

I go to a small private liberal arts high school (not considered a prep school).

Many schools do not rank... as shown by this thread alone.

Someone has clearly misled you on the important of class rank (as is evident in your previous posts... in which class rank seems to be an obsession of yours). Class rank... believe it or not... is a by- product of one's GPA in specific classes in comparison to peers. Colleges, wisely, respect one's GPA and schdeule more than class rank.

Now my class size is 78, and I am (unofficially) ranked 11th and thus in the top 15%. If say, there were 110 students in my class, I'd be top 10%... and therefore, according to you, qualified? But, feel free to post your stats and there will be plenty of people willing to give you their opinions on your chances.
