class of 2010- who's attending?

I visted Tulane today and I must say I am very impressed with what I saw and heard. I am for sure going because everyone who goes loves Tulane and it seems that school has only gotten stronger after the storm. A lot of the rumors going around such as the departure of undergraduate professors is not true. If you are on the fence about Tulane go visit and I promise you your hesitations will go away. Now that I have said that is anyone going?

I am visiting for the first time on Tuesday. Then I'll be able to make my decision.

A friend of mine visited and found the campus to be intact and in pretty good shape. Tulane's financial resources and endowment are being stretched but they seem to be doing a good job at consolidation and management of the campus. Don't kid yourself to think that no undergrad profs have left.

I think Tulane will be fine in the future but may suffer a bit in the rankings but not too much.

Tulane does have a spin on their situation so you need to be objective when considering the source of information.

okay well it seems this thread has gotten off track... who is attending, not who has problems with the school. I am for sure going but I am concerned I am the only one! Is anyone on this website going?

its really likely that i will be going- i'm still debating though (for some reason) between GWU and Tulane---but odds are heavily on tulane's side----trust me there are other people who are going--on my visit i was hanging around the admissions office and they had enrolled students on the phone asking questions about advising housing ,etc.-----TULANE is freakin resilient---their going to be fine---you just won't find too many CCers saying they are going because they are a group of unforgiving elitists, carrerists, etc.....i know its exciting but there won't be to many people at Tulane like that next year who are solely concerned about THEIR future , etc.----those people whose only reason they aren't attending tulane is beacuse they are frightened Tulane's US News ranking will slip and they won't get into Harvard law school or something.....SCREW THEM!!!!!

i was there this weekend and was very impressed so anyone who thinks they can't go on to great things after is wrong.

i totally agree ranking possibilites are just one of many factors....people who are obsessed with them amuse me.....i really don't think the school's will suffer, but those anxious people who do think so will be hesitant to go and i like that those possibilities....this means more of creative more communal student body and less gamers of the system...do you know what i mean or am I crazy JB?

i completely agree with you, i think that tulane will be a rarity in the system where people go for education and not "what spot are we on the USNWR rankings"

I agree with the opinions of the campus--I visited saturday last. For me though it all comes down to the cost, and I'm looking at three other very different schools.

Yes, costs are a big concern. My daughter was very seriously considering Tulane, but received much more generous offers from other comparable schools. I posted this once before, but I think they may have made more scholarship offers than they usually do, but at lesser amounts. If that's the case, it could end up hurting their yield -- in my d's case, she probably would have attended if she had recieved the DSA.

If this thread is any indication, the yield is not going to be too strong. But, they probably admitted way more than normal to make up for it.

they admitted 7000

inside "scoop" from anonymous prof at Tulane (one of the "stars")... he said in terms of losing faculty that hurricane katrina helped the school dramatically-yes there were a few tough loses, but overall it was a great opportunity for them to get rid of many weak tenured profs, who otherwise would be untouchable

dipset are u going to tulane?

99% yes- my boy is def goin as well and I have two other good friends that are leaning towards joining... Tulane jus seems like the perfect place-so many opportunities w/out the stressful environment that usually comes with top class higher ed (sat nite was not meant for books)... overall seems like a real good time... wut about yall?

btw heres a shout out to all the clowns dissing Tulane/NO on CC... yall don't have any idea *** you are talking about-your statements reak of misinformation and ignorance... I hope all of you CLOWNS congregate at the same school so you can express your patheticly narrow perspectives in quarantine from the rest of the country... Tulane... AYT!

I'm going, I sent in my housing stuff online yesterday after visiting over the weekend... everything was in much better condition than I expected and the people were so nice!

yeee Vicky-Im headed down w/ u... where are you from

housing stuff is up already -where- what housing stuff are you talking about??????????---i thought they weren't mailing that stuff to us until a couple weeks after the desposit deadline????--if that's the case i'm going to quit slackin around on sending in my deposit---where do you guys want to live?????--i think wall residential college is my number one choice

Nah dipset, think we will be congregating at our first choice. True, there is much misinformation but also accurate information unless one is in denial.

lol cute hopeful... if you were implying im in denial then you are mistaken... everyone knows that there are question marks w/ Tulane-myself included... another hurricane could come in and wipe out New Orleans for good, and then im sure smart ass pricks such as yourself will gloat in satisfaction... in the end though, the kids who choose to go to Tulane have looked over the pros and cons and are able to see that the potential advantages of attending outweigh the risks... btw that "shout out" was only out towards the bashers-I obviously have nothing againist kids who (through a deliberate/informed investigation) choose to go somewhere else, but for those such as yourself I can only wish the worst... CLOWN
