The letter was addressed on February 12.
I applied to Engineering Honors on Jan 30.

Decision date in exactly two weeks.

That's b/c you were an auto-admit, I applied back in early November and havn't heard anything.

No, unfortunately I did not apply ID to Rice, I did apply RD though. Despite wherever else I get admitted, I'll probably have to come to UT because it will most likely cost us the least.

I think I'm gonna have to drop Plan II though because of Engineering Honors. I read that the Engineering Honors/Plan II dual degree takes five years to complete. Does anyone know if this is true? If it's true, I'd rather not do this because I'm planning on going to med school after and I want to get done with undergrad as soon as possible.

My brother is in the join Eng.H/Plan II program, and plans to graduate in four years. It maybe depend on the number of hours you bring in through AP/community college credit, though.

zanna: you applied late? I don't understand. I applied right on the fifth (procrastination) when it was due so how long does it take to get decision back?

haha okay well I guess not late late. I'm trying to say I didn't submit my app way ahead of time. And at that point, I didn't know the deadline was extended so I was e-mailing my teachers like crazy, so I thought it was pretty late.

Plan II may be a good major to prepare for med school, so you may consider dropping engineering and keeping Plan II. Or you may keep both. Perhaps you should talk with UT to see which programs will serve you best before you make a decision.

The only reasons I'm thinking of keeping engineering instead are because:
1. I'm doing biomedical engineering and that takes care of all the premed prerequisites.
2. I'm getting $6,000 a year from engineering, so if I drop I'll lose that scholarship.

If you come into UT with enough AP credits, you should be able to graduate in 4 years.
My best friend (doing plan II and engineering honors) came in as a junior...
So do well on your APs!

Hi y’all! Congratulations to those of you admitted to Plan II Honors (BS to UT, Luxar3000, bluefalcon245, ohh miss zanna)—y’all should be VERY proud! I’m a senior graduating from Plan II in May. I know a lot, so if you have ANY questions, please ask them on here or PM me.

Plan II is supposedly excellent for med school (I’m going to law school myself, so I don’t know firsthand). Also, Plan II/BME doesn’t HAVE to take five years. AP credit can cover a lot of Plan II requirements, and some of your BME requirements will fulfill Plan II reqs. Plus, there’s always summer classes and credit-by-exam. I would not rush to drop Plan II. The freshman year of Plan II is the best one, so at least give it a shot first. If you do end up dropping it, you’ll have made some great friends and professor contacts through Plan II.

Yeah if I do end up going to UT, I was planning on doing that. Thanks a lot for the advice UTSenior! It's great to have a Plan II senior on here to tell us things like this :]

Also, they've started sending out Liberal Arts Honors acceptances. I got one and my friend got one also, but we're both turning it down because we're already in Plan II.
