<p>Less than 24 hours before our sons Appointment landed in the mail, <surprisingly, i="" might="" add!=""> he had an e.mail conversation with his RO's admin regarding CVW. He also had asked if his nomination had been received. Her very polite answer was 'yes, you will hear about your status soon.' :D Very clever! </surprisingly,></p>

<p>Our son's BGO was tight lipped. All he said that he was triple Q'd, a strong candidate, and to hold on just a little bit longer. Hmmmm.</p>
<p>The only one who told us anything was the boy's ALO (AFA) who told us he was standing in the middle of the admissions office and that our son would be offered an appt. Stated he had received that news straight from the boy's admissions counc.</p>
<p>Mute point, anyway, since boy will go to USNA.</p>

don't now about usna, but i'm sure the policy is the same at all academies.
i had just found out about usna prep and my mom called usafa to ask about my status there.my admission's officer said that i had been up for review the week before and that a decision had been made. but she couldn't tell my mom what. she said that there is some rule that requires her to wait one week for the source of the applicant's nomination to notify the student themselves. (thought that was funny since i'm child of deceased veteran and usafa gave me my nom, but whatever) no one called me and my status online changed one week later. two days after that an appointment arrived in the mail.
long story short....there are rules from congress preventing your ro or admission's officer from releasing your status within a week of the decision being made.
my advice, wait a week... if it hasn't come in the mail, call again, then they can tell you.</p>
<p>Seems logical ... but I don't think that's quite the way it works. The nominator MOC's are allowed the courtesy in most cases, of announcing the good news. It's not a legal issue. And a week later, maybe they can tell the candidate, but I suspect most will not.</p>
<p>that's just what usafa told my mom. they have some rule from congress saying they have to wait a week. i don't now anymore about it.</p>

<p>So yea....I got a letter from one of my nominating sources today (a Senator) inviting me to a 'reception honoring the United States Service Academy Appointees Class of 2011'.</p>
<p>So I guess I'm in? I dono lol...I received my waivers that my LOA said I needed to be guaranteed an appointment but I haven't yet heard I've been appointed. lol....so confusing.</p>
<p>KRYPTER! THAT IS DEFINITELY a step in the right direction, What about calling the admissions office or the Senator's office?</p>
<p>Krypter - sounds real positive. I say call and find out for sure. I was at our Congressmans "Town Hall Meeting" last week & his aide mentioned D would be getting an invitation to similar event (D already has appointment) I inquired somewhat and was told they invite everyone that got a nomination specifically not only those with an appointment. She mentioned that there are afew that turned down appointments to go to non-SA's who are invited as well. Seemed somewhat odd to me but she said that is how the Congressman wanted it - anyone who got a nom regardless of outcome gets invited. Will be interesting to see how many of those without appointment or who turned it down actually come. Guess it may depends on your Congressman how it is done.</p>

<p>I got my appointment letter on October 3 of last year. I applied early to both Air Foce and Navy. I was searching the web and came across this website. Seems pretty cool and its nice to have a lot of people to converse about USNA. But I do consider myself pretty lucky to have gotten my appointment early because I have no doubt that it can be stressful...but I applied early just so that I wouldnt have to wait. Thank God everything worked out!</p>

<p>I applied really early, but then I had to wait for my command to do their part before my application was completed (since I'm active duty). It was quite frustrating knowing that my application was incomplete until someone that I had no control over decided to finish it. They pushed it off all the way up until a week or 2 before the deadline after sitting on it for almost 6 months, even though I kept on them about it...</p>
