Class of 2011- Admitted, deferred, denied.

iheartpacman...i am so sorry...you still have a great shot...put that frustration and anger and sadness into some other applications

you have been so kind and enthusiastic for everyone, we all know the right place will be there for you

what other schools are you looking at?

you are a person with real class and style and some wonderful school, and it could still be Emerson, will take you in a heat beat

my D really really really liked this guy, she spent her time focused on him, and he, well, at the time he wasn't interested...after she stopped focusing on him, she saw there were some pretty special guys out there...and that is true for schools

good luck, i hace my fingers crossed for you and I KNOW you will find the right school..

Thank you; that message made me feel a lot better.
I actually called admissions people yesterday, and they told me that- since my college course transcript hadn't been sent in- my application was incomplete and would be deferred 'til April. So i had known it, but was waiting for the official letter, since they hadn't told me outright.

Right now, if i don't get into Emerson, i plan on attending DePaul for my first semester, and trying to enter Emerson for their January term.
I've been interested in Mt. Holyoke, SAIC, and DePaul, but not too much; more of a places-to-apply tally.

But DePaul's probably is it for me, if Emerson's out. They don't have a writing program, or anything...but they're gave me a decent scholarship, and i really like the campus.

Thanks so much, again, for your message. It really made me feel more hopeful. Right now i'm putting the finishing touches on my interactive portfolio for SAIC that, now, i'm thinking of sending to Emerson, too. That and trying to make sure my finals go decently. ^.^

Again, congrats to everyone who got in!
And for the rest of you- i live in Chicago and got it today, so yours should be coming soon- good luck!

Keep your head up, iheartpacman! Emerson is not the be-all end-all. I used to think I couldn't be happy anywhere but Emerson but now I realize that if I don't get in, it wasn't meant to be. The admissions counselors know what they're doing. If they don't think it's a fit, they don't want to harm you by putting you in a school you don't belong at. That's how I've started to see it and now have come to terms with anything that happens. But good luck in the RD round and let us know how everything turns out!

I'm pretty okay with it, now. Like... if i don't get in RD, i'm going to apply for January admissions and hope that i can get my grades up in the meanwhile.

Good luck with your admissions! I sincerely hope you get admitted.

ahh ilive in CA and havent gotten anythiging in the mail yet so........also i went to the website and the tuition deposit thing says
"Sorry but Undergraduate Admission Deposit Submission is not open at this time.
If you have any questions, please contact the Admission Visitor Center, 10 Boylston Place, (617)824-8600.
"
does that mean im screwed or no??

some people's changed later, you won't know until you get the letter.

Deferred! I'm actually not upset at all--I was expecting the very worst. It's kind of a bummer not to know for sure right now but at least they're still interested!

Congrats to all! Have a great holiday!

Got my letter on Saturday the 16th! SO excited - it's my #1!
I also got my acceptance into the Marketing Comm. program buttt they said I need to wait to hear about the Honors Program.

Did anyone get some scholarship money already??

AH! Amory Blaine!
This Side of Paradise!

Congratous on your acceptance, too~

finally got my letter but i got deferred for the Acting B.A..i was moe upset then i thought i would be but i have 3.67 (all A-'s and one B- in french) for my first senior grading period!!! very excited about that since in the letter they explain how important senior grades are to them..anyway i feel better and i really hope i get in!!!!!

aw thanks iheartpacman, don't give up hope just yet! Even if you do end up somewhere else, transferring in is MUCH easier since there are fewer applicants. good luck!!

and yesssss! another This Side of Paradise fan!

Does Emerson look at your weighted GPA, or unweighted?

I'm pretty sure at the info session they said unweighted, but they consider your schedule and the difficulty of classes, so basically they think about it weighted.

Hmm. I'm worried because i had a bit of controversy that was cleared up, leaving me innocent, but because it was involved at all, i recieved a 0% on my psychology final, bringing my grade in that class downt o a C-, and my overall GPA to a 3.7 weighted, 3.1 unweighted.

Last semester i was in all AP classes except for gym, psychology, and PopLit. Next semester i'm in all AP besides gym. I also don't take a lunch period, so i have extra classes...
Am i pretty much doomed with my 3.7 and C-? The GPA Emerson got sent was a 3.4 weighted, but i had many, many medical issues that resulted in months out of school...i was very much hoping that my massive upturn in grades would validate this point, but that Psych grade brought this semester's(quite decent) GPA down...

write them a letter! just send in a lot of stuff, like a personal statement about your grades, a new grade report, and another recommendation. if you make it known to them that emerson is your first and only choice you'll stand a really great chance of being accepted.

I'm applying to the SAIC, and they need a portfolio, and i made mine a digital interactivey one...i was thinking of sending it to Emerson; d'you think they'd actually look through it?

And thanks so much for all this information! You're wonderful~

yeah, my friend david is applying and he is sending in a portfolio from his graphic design class, even if they don't have time to look at it they'll know you sent it and be impressed.

i was deferred from the BFA acting program.

... i really want to go, but i fear my grades are a tad bit on the low side. i have a 3.5 unweighted GPA ranked 165/480. my SATs: 1930

but i've done school plays and musicals. everything from tech crew, chorus parts, leads, and production stage managing. i've been a part of a professional stage project, i'm also secretary of the drama club. and i've also been a lead in an independent feature film.

the letter states that you can send in anything to add to your application file. and i was wondering if you all thought it a good or bad idea if i took the snippets of the scenes i was in for the indie film to show them a bit of my work. or if i'm better off just writing them a letter....

Don't get bummed out about not being accepted right away into their acting program, I was told most students get deferred because they want to see everyone audition. I think one of the best things to do would be get a recommendation from one of your directors or theatre teachers.

one of my recommendations was from my theatre teacher. she's also an emerson alum.
