**Class of 2011 GWU RD Decisions**

Wow, I can't believe you were rejected. You were still ranked in the top 12%. I think you should appeal if GW is one of your top choices or if you don't have a comparable option to fall back on yet. Just out of curiosity, if you don't mind, what high school did you go to? I am also from NY and went to a public school. Oftentimes the caliber of high might have something to do with it to, but I still can't see why they rejected you.

I got in!! w/ a presidential scholarship...was not expecting that one. I also haven't actually received my acceptance letter, just the financial aid one.

Francis Lewis HS in Queens, NY. Part of the school is very competitive with students getting into ivies and other top schools. I'm checking their website to see if I can appeal.

congrats to everyone accepted!

I still have NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WAITLISTED

if you don't want to go, tell them!

*Just called because I didn't receive mine yet again today and she said that they were all mailed out @ roughly the same time and she was told that they were supposed to put them online this week so who knows, but I am getting aggravated!!!!!!!!!

I called today and was told that all decisions were mailed last Friday and might take 3-5 business days to be delivered. I don't understand the delay, but all we can do is wait...

OMG! GW is giving me INSANE amounts of money. Board of Trustees 25k scholarship and another 12k in grants. I'm not even smart or poor. WHAT?

I live in CA, still nothing- I hope my decision comes by Friday because I'm leaving town early Saturday and won't be back for almost a week (I can't be in suspense for that long!)

Odin, I know Francis Lewis (I'm also from Queens). My best friend's sister is a junior there...

Good luck with your other college decisions!

QNYergrl, whats her name? Maybe I know her.
Umich just made it a lot easier for me to get over the GW rejection. They just revised my fin aid award and gave me full aid. I'm OOS too so I'm pretty stoked right now. In the end I wouldn't have been able to justify picking GW over umich.

My S got his financial aid award offer letter yesterday:

$12k Board of Trustees Scholarship
$2,300 University & Alumni Award
$3,500 Stafford Loan

Total package $17,800. This leaves almost a $36k shortfall, which given our $29k EFC (which is high to begin with) is just way too much. He's been offered a $25,500 package from Tulane, with Honors Program as well. Tulane leaves us with a $21,600 shortfall, far below our 29EFC. Seems like they want him more, and it's looking like that's where he'll go. It's a good fit for him, so it's fine. I do feel bad that he did not get a merit offer from GWU, but I am sure he would had he been in math or science, not Polysci, since he did score a perfect 36 on the science section of his ACT.

rejected gpa:89 uw
sat: 1400/2070
sat2s: 720 710 670

first generation, decent ecs.

White Male
2080 SATs: 750W/700V/630M
EC's: theatre, music, co-founder and head of Model UN club at school

D accepted!! So psyched! ($4000 Bd. of Trustee scholoarship, a bit of Stafford loan)

General:
College/Major Applied To: Columbian College
Stats:
SAT I or ACT: 2030 (680 reading, 670 math, 680 writing, 11 on essay)
ACT: did not take
SAT IIs: did not take
GPA: 3.49 weighted (don't know the unweighted, but excellent public school)
Rank: does not rank
APs: 3's on History & language :( Has taken a ton of AP and honors classes, though none in sciences or math.
Other stats (Awards, etc.):
Subjective:
ECs: campaign volunteer for winning house/rep. candidate, mentoring for elementary school students, alot of theatre in excellent school theatre dept., ran school charity drive for nat'l charity, a few clubs, volunteerism here and there
Job/Work Experience: realtors office/babysitting
Essays: Common App was fine, but GW essay was strong and very GW-specific, focusing on interest in politics, trip to GW campus last year.
Recs: Opted not to read but assume they were all excellent -- teachers all love her
Location/Person:
State or Country: AZ
School Type: Competitive public
Ethnicity: white
Gender: female
Hooks: I think D's strong interest in politics and a really great interview with the GW rep. who visited her school last fall. D expressed strong, authentic interest in GW and I think that helped to overcome GPA deficit.
Other thoughts: totally psyched after 4 months of stress
Attending? almost certainly, barring a miracle (ie. acceptance at one school from whom not yet heard that is an extreme, extreme reach)

Has anybody in midwest head anything? Anbody from Chicago or maybe Milwaukee? I'm in Saint Louis, MO and I think if I don't hear something from GW soon I'll explode.

nothing in minnesota....

Friend still hasn't gotten anything in PA. I got the financial aid stuff, but no acceptance packet. This is really stupid.
