i think psychologically for some good schools it puts them at an advantage. it gets the student thinking about that school alone as a place to be the following year while other schools are still deliberating. but you're right. while it seems like everyone here is getting accepted, these are early write letters that are generally rare. your chances are still the same as they always were. good luck!

congrats to all the RD'ers

so when do they send us stuff for the spring event?

yeah, i agree that early writes and likely letters send a majority of RD applicants (if they know about the early writes) into an unnecessary panic... but you have to remember that schools don't expect all their applicants to be lurking it on CC all the time... soooo they probably think that people who don't get early writes don't even know they exist... if that makes any sense...

Well CCers are generally stronger applicants and more college savvy than most, so the number of early writes you hear about may be disproportionate to how many files the committee has yet to decide on or have chosen to inform on the actual date. College admissions is definitely a game and strategy as much for applicants as it is for colleges looking to fill beds with their ideal class. So sit tight and good luck!

Don't worry guys....

My Bobo acceptance was the last piece of college mail I got, and it came WAAAY late. They send them in arbitrary waves. Hang in there guys, march is a *****

i'm so excited, i got one too and my financial aid package came out AMAZINGLY!!! im gonna have some incredibly hard choices come may because i got into my other first choices...

still waiting on my fa, if it's not good I'll be heading off to austin college :(

I'm hoping though that the fa will be enough to go to bowdoin (which is my first choice)

Putting this at the top.

Good luck all Bowdoin 2011 applicants!

Yeah good luck guys. =D

remember to post your stats for next year's applicants as well..

coldrising, it sounds like you have a win-win situation. I have a friend at Austin College and he loves it there.

so...today's this day! if they sent them out the 23rd like they said people should start getting letters today right?

MA - nothing yet.

same here...

if decisions were really mailed on friday, wouldn't at least some people have gotten them by now?

Probably. My guess is that decisions were not really mailed on March 23. It seems like a random date and is totally inconsistent with previous mailing dates.
I recieved my E-D acceptance on Dec. 16...one day after it was postmarked. I am from Southeastern MA.

NYC - nothing either.

I'm guessing that Bowdoin did not meet its own March 23d deadline. Lord only knows why Bowdoin was so specific in the early write letters as to the date. And of course it is ipossible to tell whether that means the deadline slipped by a day or two or by a week. . .

NYC-

Nothing I was expecting for it to be today.. maybe tomorrow it's prolly in the post office now or something..

kinda mad...since my classmate got an early write like two weeks ago.. even though i think i'm > than her.

p.s. march 23rd isnt a random date.. i know mt. holyoke sent their stuff out on fri too.. and a couple of other small liberal arts schools.

Skidmore sent on Friday. I was accepted today. I'm guessing Bowdoin didn't send out on Friday. Perhaps they sent today?

has anyone called admissions to see when they are sending them out? i got all nervous thinking i was getting my letter today...but nothing.
