Essays: My Common App essay I wrote about Model UN and the manner in which my involvement has made me a more outgoing, confident student and person. The essay also touched on the manner in which my growth has given me the confidence to take on several leadership positions and to become a major participate in class. Both my college counselor and I greatly liked the essay. My "Why Vassar?" Response was two paragraphs long. I mentioned Vassar's diverse mixture of students, tightly connected community, and academic flexibility in my essay.
Teacher Recs: Excellent (I hope.... didn't read them.). Both teachers have had me for two years so they know me well. One of the two is, in addition, my advisor with whom I have a wonderful connection.
Counselor Rec: Excellent (I hope... once again, didn't read it). Counselor really seems to like me and admire my work ethic and maturity.

Hook (if any): I'm interested in majoring in neuroscience which is one of the less-common prospective majors selected by students, I'd imagine.

This made my day!

To the kids who were accepted via postal mail - did you get anything cool with your letters? I was accepted ED I and there was only two sheets of paper. Kind of a bummer (except for the whole "I'm going to Vassar" thing)!

It was a big, thick envelope which said Vassar Office of Admissions on it (nothing on the outside confirming I got in but seeing something of that size was equivalent in confirming my acceptance). Inside was a letter notifying me of my acceptance and a folder. The folder contained a poster of the campus, information sheets about open houses and various other aspects of the school, and a DVD about life at Vassar.

Oh, thanks! I think the ED kids might be getting those in the mail, too.

Anyway, is anyone here definitely attending Vassar, or are you guys still waiting on other schools? If the former, get on facebook and join the Vassar 2011 group (please).

Me personally, I'm waiting on Amherst and Penn... but things aren't looking great for those two so Vassar is probably going to be it. Also, is anyone planning on going to either of the Open House days (April 17 or 22)? I think I'm going to be attending the one on the 17th.

oh man oh man..... nothing today here in DC.... maybe tomorrow? eekers! i was wondering, how were the financial aid packages for those that have been accepted?

littleathiest - I don't know if you're planning on playing field hockey in college, but if you go to Vassar, you should. Jude was the best coach I've ever had.

I'm definitely considering the option of playing field hockey. My one concern is about the amount of time it takes up because, as a freshman, I don't want to feel like I'm restricted from doing other things I enjoy (writing for the school paper, singing in an acapella group, model un if that's an option, a possible club sport) because I've made a commitment to playing a varsity sport.

i live in the suburbs of new york. i think my mail carrier is some sort of android? i always get books and things bought online in like 1-2 days. i got the big obese envelope today, financial aid package is supposed to come in a week

Starbursting, right now I so wish that I lived in MA. TX is ridiculously far away. So, who knows how long it will take for me to get it. Could be tomorrow. Could be Thursday. God, I hope it's not on Thursday. That would make the number of decisions I receive on Thursday go up to three or possible four. Oh, gosh.

CONGRATULATIONS everyone! (you know i was on the harvard forum just for fun and someone who was admitted to harvard spelled congratulations wrong) We'll be seeing each other all next year!
