General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Received the letter in the mail north of Boston today, FYI.

littleathiest- I know exactly what you mean. I'm actually not playing again next year because it was hard on me being a walk-on and also I want to be a Student Fellow. But many of the girls are on boards in clubs, in choirs and a capella groups. Anyway, if you have any questions about the time commitment (it's really not that bad, seeing as FH is such a short season anyway), the team, whatever, feel free to pm me. I don't want to crowd this board.

I don't feel so bad for my son being rejected seeing some of those stats! He so much loves vassar though! He was accepted at Oberlin, Brandeis, Rochester, U.Md Honors with a scholarship, Skidmore, Northeastern Honors with big scholarship, so Vassar was his reach-iest school.

SATV-690, SATM-770, SATW-620 (he never took a single day of SAT prep, so he went in to the writing test absolutely cold!)
SATII - MathII and Bio, 750 each
GPA- unweighted just slightly B+ (with a C in French 5, a negative for Vassar I'm sure) but 4.7 or something weighted (8AP's)
I'm sure not as many EC's as others
Good essays, very good recommendations -- but his graded paper to submit was not very good, he hadn't saved anything good and nothing he had with a good grade was impressive enough for Vassar (his English assignments were all very short)
He worked incredibly hard on his film for myspace though, so he will be disappointed.
Maybe overall not a good match!

Congrats to all you who got in!

lol, I got in and I never finished the application. I never sent recs, never did any of the supplements. All I did was the main common app and the transcript/counselor rec.

Now I feel dumb for not doing the finanical aid package. I had eliminated Vassar, but low and behold, I had a surprise in the mail today.

sorry about your son silversenior... I'm not getting my hopes up either. Vassar is a great, tough school. The other schools on your sons list are amazing too. I'm sure he'll have a great college experience!

Visirale... how...?

No idea. My stats are ok, but pretty normal for Vassar.

2200 SAT 4.3 gpa, national merit finalist, semi-professional musician.

I talked to their lacrosse coach but never did anything official.

SAT II: Lit 650, US Hist 620, Math II 610

Rank or % estimate: probably top 10%
Essays: (Feelings on Common App and Why Vassar short answer) I write well so the essays weren't too tough for me. My creativity took control and I talked about comparing myself to water with 3 different "atoms" of my life. For the why Vassar, I really didn't do anything special. I just said it allowed me to study in an environment with other intellectuals and explore my education.
Teacher Recs: An english teacher I had for 3 years wrote me a pretty good rec. cause he knows me well. My foreign language teacher also wrote one for me. She has had me for all 4 years so she knows who I am too.
Counselor Rec: I don't really know. Our guidence department probably just BS's the whole thing.
Interview:It was a really good interview and they actually paired me with an interviewer who was basically myself 10-15 years from now...or at least how I see myself.

I got in! I won't fill out all of my stats, but I my GPA was 3.587 (unweighted) and my SAT score was 2030 (680 M 680 V 670 W).
SAT 2s were 670 (English Lit), 640 (Math 2c), and 640 (Spanish)
I know my stats pale in comparison to most of the students who post on this site. I feel as though my essays, recommendations, and interview especially really helped me get in. I'm very excited! I hope I get a good financial aid package! Congrats to the others who got in! And for those who didn't, I'm sure you'll end up somewhere amazing anyway. =)

Congratulations to all who got in. I am still anxiously awaiting the mailman here. He teased me by coming around 1 yesterday and bringing NOTHING for me and now it's almost 3 and he's still not here.. and I'm pretty sure I'm due to get my Vassar letter, as I'm in MA.. ahhh. I am going crazy waiting here.

Well, we're in MA, and nothing came from Vassar again today.

Oh, no way.. I don't know if I can handle another day of waiting. I really, really hope mine comes today.
