Class of 2011- Sound Off!

My BGO let me know today. I got in. I got a wierd letter (i think it might've been a LOA). It said as long as I get medically qualified I'd get an appointment. (Im already waiverable) Anyway, I called my BGO to see what the deal was. He told me that, regardless of the letter, the Academy has offered me an appointment.
That was the only item on my christmas list this year.
Happy Holidays everyone.
Good luck to everyone still waiting. Hope to see you there.
GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY! (better get used to saying that!)

cougar, my xmas list looked the same.

That's good. Now we can return those other things. ;)

Credit to the credit card. That's my Xmas wish.

BIG CONGRATS Cougar! What a god-given gift you've received. Mine too.

P.S. We got a call from Pgh pals last nite. Son got his appointment packet yesterday. We're gonna have a Yard pardy come June! You're invited. Pot luck.

Congrats GoCougar, even if you're using part of my name. ;)

You mean you 2 ain't related? ;)

Here's to all big cats. May they all be prowling the Yard come 2007.

To quote Forrest Gump, "No sir, we are not relations." :D

Actually, when my daughter occasionally posts on CC she's Navy_Hornet.

Like Forrest, figured the lad was your long-lost kitten left in Maryland on your westward trek. ;)

I'll admit that besides a nice new guitar, an appointment from Annapolis is all I want as well.

Congrats to everyone who has been gotten an appointment. Looking forward to hiding you in my room and smuggling you DVDs & music next year.

How did you get a letter (assuming that is what word insinuates) from your Congressman for admissions? Shouldn't that be from the Academy itself?

How did you hear from your congressman that you got into the USNA? Shouldn't that have come from the academy itself. I think you might have confused a letter for the nom., with a letter for appointment.

I got official word from the academy a few days after that...although the rents hid it from me for a Christmas gift.

Have not posted since Summer seminar .. BUT.. thought I had to ask as I am thinking some of these posts are misleading.. so I will ask the question for some of the more senior folks to answer.. DO YOU KNOW IF ANYONE HAS ACTUALLY GOTTEN AN APPOINTMENT to the USNA for 2011 yet???

There are actual appointments out there! My daughter is one of the very fortunate ones to have hers already.

WOW Jlr0313 .. you are a rare breed to have already recieved that. Just curious.. How many noms did she get and did she also recieve a LOA?

Son received his 15 December.

Mom2lola: My daughter had a presidential nomination and one from Congressman Hobson (OH) She got the appointment through the Congressional nomination as she got a phone call from the Congressman's staffer telling her of her appointment. She did not get a LOA or any letters indicating she was academically qualified. In fact, she heard nothing except that she was invited to CVW which she attended in November and had a great time!!

My son is currently a plebe with 2010 and got his appointment in October last year on a Presidential nomination.

that makes me feel better, i havent gotten an academically qualified letter either even though im pretty sure i am qualified.

when did she hear of her congressional nom?

Nomination notification was about the first week of December. We heard back about 1 week later from them that she got the appointment. It was strange to hear absolutely nothing and then get the nomination and appointment all at once! Needless to say, it was a great Christmas gift for her.

jlr0313 .. well you all must be a super special family! :) Congrats. I have heard of no one else getting one already. Good Luck.
