Wow, appointments before the new years, that didn't happen last year...congrats

"Wow, appointments before the new years, that didn't happen last year...congrats"

Actually, it did happen before the new year last year. Son received his appointment end of November 2005 for the class of 2010. Much depends on when your MOC announces Nominations. Our state announced nominations mid November with appointments following soon after.

We've a friend who got his appointment in Dec last year ... 2005 ... a day after he'd heard of his nomination and day before Xmas. From PA.

I believe there are some new additions to the Class of 2011? Sound off, please.

Logan - Appointment somewhere in the US Postal Service. Should be coming any day now - From Atl, GA!

Had my appointment packages from Navy and Air Force waiting for me on my computer after lacrosse practice. With my West Point appointment they complete my trifecta. Looking forward to reppin the blue & gold next year (or actually June :D!!!)

Nicole. San Francisco, CA and class of 2011!! Can't wait to be by/in that warm Atlantic water. =)

Son received nomination notification last Thursday by mail. On this Tuesday our congressman called him notifying him of appointment.

!!CONGRATULATIONS EVERONE!! Great job California kids! :D

INDEED! Congratulations to all! And keep this good news flowing!!

S, Andrew, from Maine. MOC called on Tuesday. MOC's staffer said USNA staffer is to mail packet out on 1/29; should be here by 1/31 or 2/1. BGO confirmed, and advised we give our place at CVW in March back to the Academy to hand to someone else, as S is saying a big 'ol YES to USNA! GO NAVY!!

I'd say nay on the CVW. There are none eligible turned away, I suspect. Go.

Congrats and anchors aweigh, Andrew!

Yeah Coli
another California girl comes to USNA!!!
congrats!!

Joe from Pennsylvania. My MOC called the other week telling me I received my appointment. I got the official in-writing notice the other day and can't wait to head down to Annapolis. Thank you so much to anyone and everyone who helped me in this process. Go Class of 2011!!!

first and formost, congrats!

As for that "warm atlantic water," you will be up to your hoo-haas in the smelly Severn....oh, and did anyone mention the jelly fish yet? Might want to pack some meat tenderizer in that first care package....goes a long way should your plebe rub noses with those nasty little stingers! No joke...honest to goodness!!!

Obviously there's the small hurdle of Plebe Summer to get over (my advice, work from meal to meal...you made it to breakfast? Sweet! Now just make it to lunch...etc...Not a bad way to go through the day. That, and live it up at the rifle/pistol range. Every bad action movie you've ever seen...imagine yourself in the middle of it. Makes an already sweet day even better. Even the cadre have fun with you there. The platoon commander we all thought was the worlds largest a-hole came screeching around the corner in his car with "Danger Zone" blasting. Never forget that the cadre are human too...)

Plebe Parents Weekend: Don't be the kid that takes his whites to the hotel to iron...or anything remotely Academy related. After 52 days of being a number...live. Go see a movie...go out to dinner...take a 30 minute shower...don't read the newspaper...surprise yourself with what's for dinner...read a book, other than Reef Points. . Enjoy being out and about in a uniform. But be warned, every homeless man was in the Navy at some point and will share their story with you. Smile and nod. Smile and nod.

Plebe summer over...the best thing to ever happen to my Naval Academy career...Netflix. Any movie you want (for watching at your sponsor's house during the weekend or w/ a media chit, of course) delivered straight to your mailbox. Just leave it in there until you're on your way out on Sat. morning...then drop it back in the outbox when you return. Never enters your room to be found by prying eyes. Just a suggestion.

That and we have yet to have a Helth and Wellness. If you and your classmates never give the upperclass a reason to suspect anything...well, then what do they have to gain? Be smart, but know that everyone was a plebe once.

back to the c/o 2011 sound off..
I'M IN! (it's just pending a vision waiver, which i dont think i should be too worried about)
Emily, Fairfax, VA

Nick from CA-got my appt. two weeks ago!

Congratulations to both Nick and Emily! :) :) :)
