megaman... which thread did you start?

Dun, dun, dun, dun, brahhahadun, brahahhadun, brahhahadun da-da-da-da-da-dada the system, is down, the system, is down

deusexmachina, it was one where we could post our stats, you know, to see what we are up against, but it died away...yeah...it was a pretty bad thread hahaha

it's okay. I don't really get the point of posting stats, anyway... It's the end of junior year, and we don't have much time to make life-changing adjustments to our resumes. plus, it always turns into some sort of stats-off, with people making up stats or just plain not making sense. reminds me of a freestyle rap-off.

hahahaha...yes, you're right. well anyways, anyone here visting Penn this sumemr?

attending LBW... if that counts as visiting =) a month-long visit

Yeah don't let SAT's get to you too much.... I had 2000 on SAT and 31 on ACT and got into Wharton ED for this fall.... so keep your heads up*it's not about having perfect stats at all!

yeah but shreve did you have ridiculous extracurriculars? or legacy?

Not a legacy... was Student Government President and in a service club... won rally for math... nothing particularly amazing... I think it was my essay that got me in and I'm from the south so not as much competition

I got a C freshmen year & three 7 B's... sophomore got 2 B's... Junior all A's.... senior year one B in the hardest class at my school, so I showed an upward trend

what has me worried about stats is that I'm an international, and I'm afraid that in the int. aplicant pool they'll worry more about stats...it might be nonsense but I have that idea so stuck in my head that I'm getting more and more scared that I don't stand a chance ( specially after I just did some SAT math IIC and Bio practices and did a lot worse than I expected).

wow megaman do you understand that being an international student is something that kids from the states DREAM about? being international is a big plus. and about your SATs... just work at it. SATs are nothing but brute practice. on test day, relax, and you'll do fine.

^really? I guess I'm getting mixed signals. Some people said it was a disavantage, other saids it was an advantage, and I guess I tend to assume the worst haha... what I had considered before was, that at least my nationality (Costa Rican) did provide some sort of distinction among the applicants, seeing as I come from a small country with virtually no applicants to Penn.

That is definately going to help. Dont worry.. You'll be fine..

I would not personally generalize and say that being an International is a plus. It depends which country you are from. I am originally from India and so I'm probably going to have a tough time because of the high number of people who come from India.

I cant wait for the college admisisons process to begin!

They care less about SATs if your an international student.
All you need to know is I got in with a CR and Writing score less than 600.....

My math was near perfect though. And I had amazing EC (International and national contests).

However, I went to a public school. So if you went to a private school (Alvls, IB,.....) they are going to expect high verbal SAT scores.

yay at least I'll be able to give them that... I'm so excited about this whole thing. I just can't wait until we apply and then find out if we're in or not.

Ehh, I am looking forward to April of next year, not the process itself lol.

Heres to hoping ECs can weigh out average academics (for applicants that is).

April? How bout December, buddy!?

Well I may very well get deferred and I should have final results by April from RD round. I am trying not to think about December. I wouldn't mind getting it done by then though. :)
