Class of 2011!

This is one of the biggest universities out there? Where’s the love!!?

Anyways, I want to know who is actually attending, what program/college/major you were accepted into. Honors College? Dorms? Favorite part of the university?

Just want to see what type of people I will eventually see in my classes (very small chance…but still).

BioEngineering
Engineering Honors

^^ congrats. Ill tell mine.

Pre-Supply Chain Management
Business Honors

congrats...any word on scholarships??

I didn't get any merit aid, but I will get an in-state tuition waiver worth around 4500 per year. I applied for a few private scholarships...not sure I will get them though. What about you?

I got in as a Psychology major!I'm still waiting on the student aid though.

I'm majoring in Business (leaning towards Finance but applied as management) with possible minors or select classes in political science and history. I'll be in honors, honors dorm, and I'm interested in the various study abroad programs available.

^^ Yea, I'm considering minoring in religious studies, sociology, anthropolgy, or something like that. I am very interested in these types of studies...but we'll see when I get there.

Everyone...you can make a reservation for orientation! Do it quickly...or your date may fill. I'm doing the 2nd one...and Ill tell everyone how it went and what classes I signed up for and other info when I get back.

Congrats christalena2:
I'm OOS, and they sent me a $9000 meritbased scholarship...

^ wow! Thats great! Only top OOS students get the 9k one!

ASU!!! I applied like a week ago and got my letter today... haha. Got accepted for Marketing but I decided I'd rather do Industrial Engineering, so I have to go and check that on monday... Going with instate tuition and some help with private scholarships, the rest I'll pay with loans...

^^ ooh, do it quickly...theyre going to run out of room, even if your stats are amazin!

Congrats on the scholarship...Ill be getting the AIMS waiver too, but no scholarship for me...dangit!

I got the UofA wildcat excellence scholarship too, but the AIMS waiver will be worth more anyways, so it would cancel out that scholarship anyways.

So, I didnt think it was that amazing to get that money.

But good luck picking the right school

Heyyy, I just got a letter in the mail today saying that I got the provosts scholarship worth 6.5k per year.

Really excited now!

christalena2, thank you for your information on ASU's Honor College at the Parent's Forum. Do you know quite a bit how Barrett is other than the information from Reader's Digest? My son is actually looking at ASU. And how is ASU's journalism program? Thank you.

Well, all I truly know is what the website says, and what my sister has told me (she's a junior at ASU non-honors), and a few other people's testimony.

The major perks of Barrett is that it feels like a smaller college, within the huge college atmosphere, the fact that you get priority registration for classes, and the extra "stuff" the college gives you. ASU accepts a lot of students, but they really want their honors students to stay. So, they offer extra services, like a computer lab for only honors students, a writing center, a library, special advising (honors students can make appointments, while regular undergrad cannot), and some others I really don't know about.

I don't know much about the journalism program, except that there is a specific school for journalism and mass communication majors called the Walter Cronkite School for Journalism, honored after obviously Walter Cronkite. I don't know anything about the program itself, sorry.

Here's the journalism website: http://cronkite.asu.edu/about/welcome.html
And the Honors College: http://honors.asu.edu/

I am definitely Pro-ASU if you couldn't tell haha.

Thank you christalena2. May be you can share with us your actual experience some time this Fall after you enrollment into the Honors College at ASU.

definitely

If I go in-state, I'm going to ASU...Barrett Honors College, with a full-tuition waver because of National Merit. It's a really good deal, and it's a great school :)
...and ASU's journalism program is great, although I wouldn't recommend anyone major in journalism. I want to be a journalist but I'm majoring in global studies if I stay in-state.

Hey everyone, I just did my orientation today, and registered for all my classes...so excited!!

If anyone has any questions about orientation, please ask, and ill try to help you.
