Class of 2012 - Acceptance/Rejection/Waitlisted Thread

from what i see its very typical for us internationals to apply to more universities than students in the us, btw:
u of miami: accepted
unc chapel hill: rejected
clemson: accepted
u of san fran: accepted

those of you who got the decision by u of michigan, do they email it or do i have to wait for the greek postage office to lose it 3 times?

Dickinson Ed1- Deferred
Franklin and Marshall ED2- Rejected
Wittenberg University- Accepted (asked me to pay around 16K per year)
Kenyon College- rejected
Wheaton College, MA- Waitlisted

13 more to go...............fingers still crossed

@pantrits : You can see your decision (when it is made) under the 'View Decision' link on Wolverine Access. Sometimes they don't post it online, though, in which case you'll get it by mail.
I got my decision online, then they sent an email then I got the letter after 5 weeks .

yeah S33D, he was looking for a good deal of aid (like most of us).

NYU Stern School of Business - Accepted
U Penn Wharton - waiting (deferred ED)
Yale - waiting
Columbia - waiting
Cornell - waiting
Carnegie Mellon - waiting
Stanford - waiting
Rice - waiting

wats deferred? does that mean the same thing as deferred entry in the UK system?

when u apply early decision, u can either get rejected. accepted or deferred, which means that they will tell u the decision later

lol why do they have to tell you the decision later? they wanna compare you with the RD pool? then wats the point of having ED? or does is it a more polite and hopeful way of saying u're waitlisted into oblivion?

Yes, they want to compare the applicant with the RD ones. Its just a way of saying "We think you're good enough but we don't know whether we can accept you now".
But its generally known that deferred students have lesser chances of getting in.

lol i always tot of deferred as meaning you've been accepted but are taking a gap year or 2 for work, serving army etc.

quag_mire,
How /when did you get your NYU decision? Though I haven't applied to Stern.

Caltech - Rejected EA
MIT - Slow Rejection
Waiting on Duke, CMU, HMC, NYU, Cornell, Columbia and Stanford (Funny)...

Whats funny?

Getting into Stanford...Not going to happen...Which is alright...
The others I dont have a preference so as long as I am going to college I am happy...Cant really study pure physics in India...

Shruthi by the way did you get into MIT?

No.. Didnt get into MIT

^^^Also where else did you apply?

Oh sorry to hear but like I was saying the other day...Its only one golden star...There a few others and many that will be great for you...So no worries

I also applied to Princeton, Stanford, Northwestern and UCB

Congrats btw when did you receive your university of miami acceptance? did they send it to you by mail? , email ? or UM'S website. ...

@phoenician : What school are you in? PM me if you don't want to post here.
