@rdpgn105 That’s almost certain that you got in.

Oops! I forgot to post back here. Deferred.

@APRookie Stats?

Reflection
• Strengths: English, language/art/music focus, scores
• Weaknesses: Math, not enough community service maybe
• Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: not well rounded enough? math score? because people with the same SAT as me have gotten into the honors program. maybe not enough community service
• Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: accepted at honors program at Villanova
General Comments: Not my first choice or even close because it’s not a great fit, but I was surprised because I thought I was in to be honest, just based on scores grades etc, makes me wonder what’s wrong with my application because BC is not the most selective school I’m applying to. I guess it is somewhat of a game though. Congrats everyone!

@krwatermelon16 It’s hard to believe that you weren’t offered admission since your stats don’t seem to be lacking, but I’m sure you have a good shot at regular decision even if it may not be your dream school Good luck!

[/ul]General Comments: I will gladly give up my spot to a deferred student. I do not agree with BC’s policies of reproductive health education in their nursing curriculum. I will instead take a half ride at Case Western’s more highly ranked nursing school. Best of luck to all.

@pocketsized: I’m not really sure what you mean by “BC’s policies of reproductive health education.” I don’t know what you may have heard, but I can assure you that nursing students at Boston College are educated about reproductive health by some of the leading experts in the field. You may still be decided on Case Western, but you should check out the research interests and publications of several faculty members at BC. Feel free to PM me if you still have concerns.

I don’t know if this helps anyone, or if people are still wondering, but I got my email about being invited to interview for the presidential scholar’s program on December 20th I believe, and I’m international. I never got a letter (might be because i’m international), just the email!

Ok this really might sound crazy, but I was deferred and I’m pretty puzzled as to why that is the case. I’m looking at all of the acceptances and while many are above my caliber, there are also quite a few where my stats and extracurriculars surpass. Is BC truly need blind…? They’re the only school that asks for FA so early on in the process and a large chunk of these accepted students seem to be fairly wealthy…

they are definitely need blind. a lot of schools ask for CSS profile early on, but they can’t actually process or view these documents until december or so anyway.
BC guarentees 100% demonstrated need to be met, meaning kids with financial difficulties WILL get aid…also, almost 90% of people that apply for aid get it, so I don’t think that aid is a concern when admitting students.
I think that early action might be less about statistics than who was the most well rounded applicant.
I am sure that if you were deferred but have great stats, you should be just fine, and good luck!!

That is true at every private college. It is not uncommon for private colleges to be comprised of 5-percenters, i.e., 65% of the class is full pay.

Since you were deferred, you have another chance to send in more materials. Take a look at your essay. Search cc for posts by scottj, who has excellent suggestions on how you can sell yourself (in a ‘Why BC? essay’) and possibly close the deal with BC in the RD round.

Good luck.
