yeah, good luck everyone!

Does anyone know how many people apply and get accepted EA at Caltech????

adsfasdfsdf i'm gonna have a stroke

Yep, I'm feeling that stroke coming on as well - although it'll probably be a close second to cardiac arrest!

Hey folks,

Just a reminder: if you're deferred, either admissions wants to wait to see how you'll compare to the RD pool, or they just didn't have the sort of information they needed to make a decision. E.g., if you or one of your rec writers mentioned that you did some research and you didn't write about it, submit a mentor rec, or submit a paper, we probably want to know a bit more about what you did there. It's OK if it wasn't groundbreaking--just tell us something about it. Similarly, if you said you took some college classes but we didn't get your grades, or if you think we weren't convinced that you like math/science enough to stay sane at Tech, submit some relevant materials to help us make the decision during the RD round. Basically, if you're deferred, make sure to figure out why (you might even call admissions) and submit the stuff that we need. That said, best of luck to all of you! Now back to finals.

Arg This wait is killing me, idk if I can handle another day of waiting

Regardless of whether the admissions news is good or bad, I'll have a myocardial infarction.

So much for playing in the world's largest playground for math, science, and engineering. :(

deferred..i hate my life!

Holy ****... dude if you got deferred its over for me... :(

I share your sentiments, tmvphil.

I'd flood this forum with obscenities, but I'd probably get carpal tunnel from hammering out all which are on my mind.

Now even my mom is saying, "Hmmm...I don't think you'll get in...Not with your scores..."

Screw this, dammit. Also damn the East Coast for being so far from Caltech.

My friends in SoCal got their letters today

Ouch - rejected -.-

Oh well, time to wait for MIT on Saturday...

eek. rlaqhdus, im surprised you didnt get accepted. i saw your chance thread and thought for sure you would be in. now im wondering what it takes to get in... craziness.. i hate this waiting...

This is probably wishful thinking, but maybe Caltech decided to accept kids who, despite lower numbers, are skilled in other ways?

i duno, doesn't caltech have one of the highest SAT averages? what surprised me was that rlaqhdus had good scores and the math/science background that I would expect caltech to be looking for. i recall that ecs included research, math competitions etc etc...if that isn't enough.. what is? does anyone know someone who got in?

perhaps the essays played a larger role in determining passion for math and science than they ordinarily do? It makes no sense! :( why has no one on CC been accepted, and if they have, come forth!

or, it could be a prank. Techers decided to give out faux-admissions letters so they could watch us freak out on CC. That'd be so mean!

I expected .:Indian:. and rlaqhdus to be accepted having high scores and being California natives! Wow this is intimidating. Good luck everyone! crosses fingers

:( I am probably getting deferred/rejected

I knew there was no chance I would be accepted, but I was at least hoping to be deferred...good luck all

"or, it could be a prank. Techers decided to give out faux-admissions letters so they could watch us freak out on CC. That'd be so mean!"

haha that would be a funny/mean prank. tech pranks seem to be a little more sophisticated and clever than just sending out faux rejection letters. if they did, they would prob rip on MIT. also, i doubt watching kids on cc is really that entertaining. im sure techies can find better ways of entertaining themselves.. i hope

There's a really weird stamp on my rejection envelope:

"There's only one.caltech"

Hmmmm odd./
