Class of 2012 EA Decision Thread

You really are overstressed, Caltechs pool is mostly self selecting. Last I checked acceptance was just above 20% not too bad really.

As for me I'm an American Citizen whose live my entire life overseas. EC's Boyscouts, Math Team, Chem Tutoring are teh biggest for me.

My letter commented on my "piddling around essay". I wrote about some of the more exciting things I've done.

Congrats to anotherparent I'm new here, missed the post.

For my choice its a 3 way tie (Caltech, MIT, Harvey Mudd)

Oh, the forum was stupid and included the closing parenthesis I had "wrapped" it in. The California Tech

But more notably: "More females are clamoring to get into Caltech than ever before—this year, 34% more females applied via Early Action, an increase Director of Admissions Rick Bischoff calls “very substantial.” The total Early Action pool surged 16% from 683 applicants to 795.

Bischoff says that the increase in applicants parallels the stronger applicant pool from last year. The admissions committee is making its final decisions this week before sending out acceptance letters."

I'll estimate there was a similar increase in the number of accepted students (percent-wise) to the number of applicants.

Its friday morning there right?

@thekonkoe, your last post is at 3:30 pm EST in US. You can calculate from there for your MIT-EA tomorrow (Woops, this is Caltech place).

Whoa, the letters actually comment on your application?! Oh man, I want mine...

DS was deferred, received on East Coast this afternoon. No comments on his letter. My guess is that they want to see his first semester grades for the heavy-duty science and math classes he's taking. Everything else is really strong.

Oh god, what state?

Why haven't I received a letter?! Oh my god. :(

mail truck came.

I'm joining Indian in the caltech rejects group.

Good luck to everyone else though :)

I live in MA, no mail yet...

Rejected :(

@CountingDown: Where do you live on East Coast? (There was a snow storm yesterday in New England, and I hope it won't cause a delay)

Well I guess I'll hear back tomorrow... I'm in New York.

Wonderful. Imagine a rejection from Caltech and a simultaneous rejection from MIT? Nothing could maim my ego more.

Great! On a Saturday no less.

DotA time.

I'm accepted!!!! I kept on asking myself why Caltech would bother sending me a folder with tons of sheets and envelopes inside just to tell me I was rejected. I was definitely NOT expecting this, and now I think I'll party until May! (P.S. I screamed non-stop for 5 minutes, and my neighbor came out of his house and stared wide-eyed as I danced and ran around in circles!!!) Good luck everyone, and be HAPPY!

I was defered also, though I expected it, having screwed up royally on my essays. No big deal, there's another shot and if not them, then theres always UC, MIT, and others.

awww, overstressed, we can be happy in the Reject-but-still-awesomely-cool-people corner :)

On a side note - anyone else overstressed (hehe) for MIT EA tomorrow? All my EA hopes are riding on one website tomorrow at 9...

I got rejected. It's crazy, I went to a math competition all day today and I couldn't stop thinking about whether or not the Caltech letter came in today. I thought I did bad in the competition, but I got 2nd place. Then I come home and get rejected by Caltech. W/e, I have some hope tomorrow. Now Ima go watch I Am Legend.

Congrats to mercurymaster man, you're awesome.

all my friends got their letters.....
either my mail man hates me, or caltech didn't bother to waste 41 cents to sent m rejection letter..
but the acceptance letters are in mainly dark gray and some orange 9 by 12 inch envelops.
1/4 inch thick.. and well... yes they do write in it.... blue ink pen... yeah... thats about it
AHHHHHHHH WHERE IS MY MAIL...

deferred :(

This is all making me so ridiculously pessimistic. :(

Damn College Confidential! I swear... well, no. Damn American colleges for making things so dreadfully difficult.
