Class of 2012 Early Decision

Yeah...I thought my 33 ACT would be good enough to get into Duke...seeing all of your 1500/2300 scores is making me feel a bit concerned.

I hope we all get in. I know you guys will...it's me I'm worried about. How I wish I never sent in my SAT scores...

Interviewing was a great experience. We opened up with a tangent on local politics for a half-hour and then transitioned into why I wanted to go to Duke and what kind of things I would pursue while on campus. Although it was evaluative, it was relatively low-pressure.

duke admission website down.

maybe thats an indication of something?

probably them just messing with our heads haha. but yeah, it's down for me too... the page shows up but i can't log in.

edit: well, it WAS down. it's back up now, and nothing seems to be different (it still has the info for RD applicants on the decision letter tab! it's really bothering me!!!) haha

madboy dont worry man im sure your gpa is better than mine, dont be nervous you got a legit shot with that ranking of yours

Unfortunately my ranking is unofficial b/c my school doesn't formally rank students :(
"Cumulative GPA" is 4.2 tho

my interview was supposed to be a little less than thirty minutes but then we got to talking and before i knew it, a little over an hour had passed. i am not really sure how it went, but the interviewer seemed friendly and i asked some good questions.

same with my school madboy121. it does not officially rank, but i know of my rank because i was a junior marshal last year and the ranks "accidentally" leaked to students.

are you all public schooled?

i thought public school classes would be larger. maybe it's just my district. my class is 700

bigger than usual?

I go to a public school and my class only has 350 kids. I think we're an anomaly though... we have a much older population in our county.

I got a RI Prep school...90 kids in our grade at most.

while we are still waiting (yes, patience unfortunately is a virtue), i kind of want to know what other people's 'rituals' (i guess?!?) are going to be on decision day. are you going to follow any sort of special schedule? what are you going to do after you find out? who are you going to tell first?

All depends on the decision.

I hadn't really thought about a special schedule. Since we'll likely be in school on decision day, I'll just be really inattentive in class and try to get home ASAP after school. From then on, as sad as it sounds, I'll probably sit here alternately between CC and the Duke website just in case they release decisions early. I hope my teachers take pity on me and don't give me homework that night...!

As for what I'm going to after I find out-- I'm with Madboy. It depends on the decision. I've run several scenarios through my head (oddly, none of them are rejection scenarios... I'm probably jinxing myself) of how I'll tell people. The very first thing I'm going to do is delete all my current applications. I'm going to tell my parents (obviously!), then I'll call my siblings. As for my friends... right now I'm thinking about just waiting until people ask me about it. Nobody else from my school is applying to Duke ED, but kids are applying ED to other schools and I don't want to flaunt my theoretical acceptance in their faces if their decisions don't work out in their favor.

I don't know what I'll do if I get deferred/rejected. I don't even want to think about it!!!

(We should designate a meeting time here on Decision Day. Cope together.)

ha if i get into duke i will drive around my block and honk my horn until someone complains (after i tell family)

then i will wear my redick duke jersey to school

if i dont get in i will need to work on those other apps....

Well, seeing as I will be at work on the day of decisions (if it really is the 10th), and I get a half hour break, I will take that break at 6:00, drive home quickly, check, and drive back. If I don't get in, I'll just have an extremely miserable rest of the night at work and if I do, I'll be ecstatic and call a few people on my way back- exciting, i know.

OK Guys, Monday night @ like 5 or 5:30 (assuming that the information is in fact correct) let's go into an AIM chatroom with the title:

"Whatever happens you have a bright future"

At 6:00 we can post our accepted/deffered/rejected stats on CC (as they have in previous years), and at 6:01 the "Duke Class of 2012" facebook group will have already been created by some kids with a T3 internet connection (I don't think I'll belong in that facebook group, but I think you guys will).

that sounds like a fun plan, too bad i can't partake. i'm really not counting on getting in, though. i'm getting all of my teacher/counselor rec forms together for the other 9 schools i'm applying to right now! fun, huh?

If we find out on Monday, I really don't see the need to work on my other applications until then. It's part logic, part laziness, but mostly the latter.

Yeah, now that it's Monday (maybe), I'll have that whole week to work on apps should the need arise. I'm definitely in for the chat, by the way. I'll need something to distract me!

(9 schools? Wayyy too much work for me haha)

what time standard is this? EST?
