Class of 2012 from Nepal

i agree to mccccli about NIT. my cousin is studying at NIT Illahabad and it is a great school. the only thing is u wont get more one to one intereaction with a professor as u wud get into a good college at US. and also, research opportunities are limited. i got into NIT and chose Trinity over NIT. sometimes, i regret for it. but its all good. life here aint that bad either.

@jasonshah: hey, thanks man. and you seem to know who i am, maybe i know who you are? PM me?

and i’m not going to occidental because i got into sarah lawrence. had applied ED there but they deferred me and then, now, hit me with a trustee scholarship that pays for everything. so i have to pay nada. and sarah lawrence is an awesome place. better than occidental, although occidental is in a way-cooler place (california man!).

and @sunil774: i heard that KU’s media and communications program is really good. and i dont think its taught by bachelors’ passout because i actually know someone who teaches there. and he’s not just a passout. but maybe the other departments are like what you said. i was actually considering KU as an alternative. i hear good things about it.

heard that jacobs’ round II decisions are out. but i have not received a letter. what is this??? btw they had told me that my decision will be here by the end of april. how come its this early??? i am totally confused.

and congrats draj for getting into Jacobs.

draj, u have defintetely hit the bull’s eyes. I beleive it is one of the most rigorious and “life-changing” college.

I hadn’t ever noticed JUB before, because I thought it is primarily a physics and a pure science college. However, I, now, know that it is much more than that.

Cheers!!! draj. I hope other Nepalese will also get in at Jacobs..

Another acceptance: Aashish Lamichhane, SXC. congrats, man :)

I heard Prashant(borde) got into JUB. CONGRATS MATE!!! FINALLY.

“all the applicant from malpi got rejectedfrom jacobs”…lol!!! What happened??

Hurray, draj and asis

Hey,
I want to contratulate all those who got into Yacobs International University, a gread college to attend. Researching about this univeristy I found that lot of graduates go to best univeristies like John Hopkins, MIT and CIT for graduate studies.
However, I am also dissapointed that two of my friends did not make it this year. Two years back the students who went YUB from Malpi had very average statistics. Therefore, I always perceived it as a saftey. However, this year the college did not accept two of the most eligible candidates from my high school. They had superb GPAs, extracurriculars and excellent recos. I think my fate would have been the same if I had applied there. Therefore, those who got into Jacobs this year must be much more qualified and eligible than even those candidates who got into Ivy’s. You guys are heroes of this year for overcomming through the fiercest competition for any single college ever.
However, I request my friends who did not make it to be patient. May be a special acceptance is just on your door step. I still cannot believe that you two have not made it.
Furthermore, I have also changed my view on JUB. Now, I will place it in a category of the “most difficult to get into” and request all the future candidates not to take JUB just for granted.

It’s not Yacobs! it’s Jacobs. In German language, ‘J’ is pronounced ‘Y’. Congrats to those who got in!

Thanx Sam…feels nice to get an acceptance after getting series of rejections…so finally my interest to study engineering is about to come true…wow…an congratulation to all other students accpeted in JACOB’S
…

@ all members

hey guys do you have any idea about JUB third round!! do they accept int student in their third round!!i have turned out to be hoppless yar!! not getting into any colleges!! it sux man when evth is so messed up and you dont get into any colgs!! frustration has reached to its top level yar!! cant help myself.. i too was thinking of taking a year gap but i cant convince my parents to do so..so i am ending up in a state university( i never wanted this pathetic ending yar)!! but sometime i think of waiting for jan and going into BYU?? i really want your suggestion about this idea frens?? help me out!!

i only have hampen sidney left frens!! they told me that they would reply me in april 4 but havent got any messages!! so now i think that i have already been rejected from there too!! has any got acceptance from hampen sidney colg??? if anyone has any information about hampen sidney pls do write!!!

my congratulations to bocca, (th)ink, bnks12, utsavdhoj, reenaitsme, Zangokar …all those who got acceptance into good colgs!! actually u deserved them!! for those whose decisions are yet to come my wishes and prayers are with you!!

my thanks to all those senoirs and frens who shared their thoughts and experience about taking a year gap!!! it has helped a lot to those who are vacilliating whether to take a year gap or not!! thanks!!!

finally congratulations to all those who got into Jacobs!!

ya and one thing more…it is absolutely a good decision to take one year gap provided that you are not waisiting a single second of your precious time…i also thought of going to some state university this year and tranferring next year…but I came to know from many people ( esp my brothers) who are in US that it is extremely difficult to transfer since there is no financial aid for international transfer student…
in my opinion take a gap year…do everything you can to strengthen your application…and dont waste a single minute…you can see many examples like dilliraj dai who got into stanford, similarly asishraj joshi who got into Dartmouth, any many others …
if you go to US now you have to pay for your college costs since almost all scholarships are finished by now…we undergraduates go there to study and not to work…so it would be exxtremely tough to maintain your GPA if you have to work…

wait one year…there is nothing to loose…rather in a long run you’ll have more experience, you’ll be more matured …and ultimately this resilience will not only help next year but also throught your life…
go US with maximum aid…study more …work less…and prove that we NEPALIS can do great if we get an opportunity…
but…never ever think of going to STATE univs…

if nothing works next year also then study in Nepal or in India…i’m sure you’ll get excellent grad schools…

this is the point where you guys are tested…don’t give up…try next year…
i’m sure you guys will get best of the best colleges next year…

Good luck…
NEVER LOOSE HOPE…

thanks Pacific34 for your opinion!! and congratulation for getting into Jacobs!! you deserved that!!

@(th)ink , i was talking about the central campus, engineering but i don’t know much about it’s mass communications. it’s a new department and the teachers boast about it. don’t listen to good things about KU, it’s just some light air blowing without proofs. i think first 2 years are taught in central campus at dhulikhel and rest i don’t know where. the first batch might be in 2nd year now, i think so, ya it is correct i think. look man i know the pain of attending KU, i wish
you donot make the same mistake, i am in engineering not mass communications. anyways, think atleast 100 times before going to KU, research extensively. ONe caution: donot trust what a faculty member of KU talks about there program it is a rubbish. go and talk to some serious students. first they will laugh at you. don’t get sad at this point, it’s just the way it is at KU and later they will give you some advice. have a nice day.

sunil

hey guys, what do you mean by gap year? the consequent year after you graduate or the next year after that.

@ sunil774

at this very moment, after inundation of rejections, i thought of attending KU but after going through sunil774 post,..its worthless to attend nepali Ivy (KU)!! what do you suggest sunil774??

got into jacobs
finally, it feels great
thnxs god.
