HELP !!

Ok, here’s my problem. I have two acceptances, form St. John’s College (Santa Fe, New Mexico) and Caldwell College. I will probably be pursuing a career in computer science.

To my knowledge, there are no specific programs for computer science or anything else at St. John’s. But the St. John’s college students have been accepted to great colleges under mathematics and computer science program for their further studies. However, I guess I will have to study rigorous courses on Greek and French while at St. John’s which might be a problem (St. John’s students, if any, please verify). Also, St. John’s curriculum are highly reading and writing oriented so I have no idea how it will help me pursue a career in Computer Science.

I do not know anything about the Computer Science program at Caldwell College. So, if anyone knows anything about it, please, any kind of help would be highly appreciated.

St. John’s might seem to be the easier choice for many, but i need to think about Caldwell as well, specially focusing on my Computer Science career. I just received the acceptance from St. John’s and I have to decide by May 1st. So, help me out people.

Thank you

@ Bira…I suggest you talk to one of the alumni of St Johns regarding this matter. I had similar queries when I had to decide upon my college and their response was really helpful.
Here is what the alumni told me when I asked her if I would be able to have a specific degree in International Relations and work somewhere after my BAchelors. This should clear out your confusions. Well, if it doesnt, contact an alumni or the Admissions Officer itself.

Let me congratulate you on being accepted, and encourage you to accept the challenge to become a student of the great books program. Rarely does a student complete the difficult application, and pour her heart out in the essays, if she isn’t qualified to do the difficult work of the program, and benefit from the experience of attending the college. And the program at the college isn’t interchangeable with curriculums at other colleges. In your admission essays, you described why you want to attend SJC. I can’t encourage you strongly enough to consider whether SJC is the best college option for you.

The liberal arts program at the college is conspicuously non-vocational, for good reason, and, therefore, can create worries in students and parents about how successful alumni are, professionally speaking, and what kind of work they do. I think I can help you overcome worries of that kind, if you have any. After SJC I found that I had an aptitude for business, and earned my MBA in non-profit management. I went on to work for three large non-profit organizations, two of which were nationally recognized charities.

But after 10 years or so of steadily progressing up the professional ladder, I realized that working for someone else, even in the rewarding world of non-profit, wasn’t for me. Eight years ago, I left a steady paycheck for the world of freelance writing. I’m now a successful, nationally published business and lifestyle writer. I could not have made the transition to managing my own successful business without my experiences at St. John’s.

Every graduate probably has his or her own way of describing the significance of going through The Program, but let me describe how I feel about my experience at SJC. This is the education that everyone should get in high school. If nothing else, it made me understand that a thoughtful decision-making process is an invaluable skill that will serve me in whatever I choose to do.

They thought I was a girl…Bloody embarassing.

Hope this helps
