<p>I am very frustrated by that essay of Berea. Those three points cannot be expressed in a single essay. I don’t think I want to apply to Berea now. :-(</p>

<p>The Monkey’s Paw is a good amateur play, its very short though!</p>
<p>I admire people like Peter Jackson who have made novels with 800+ pages into movies like “the lord of the rings”.</p>
<p>I really hate those who seek the short cuts and make a movie of about 30 pagesworth of story, in this case Bhusan Dahal</p>

the film may not stand up much to international standards but you have to judge the film according to your own film industry standards. with our film industry in the state it is, the horrible **** that it spews out, its pretty great what bhushan dahal has done. i’m not a big fan of dahal but you’ve got to give credit where credit is due.
the story itself is something that nepali film has never seen before. it may be a short story but we’ve never adapted a short story before. true, the plot is lenghty but its not so bad. there’s pretty good acting from the likes of saugat malla and diya maskey. even nima rumba and pooja gurung aren’t half bad. the cinematography is great..bidur panday has done an awesome job. the direction isn’t quite there and the sound was horrible. but kagbeni isn’t crap. that much it isn’t.
and you can’t really complain about someone turning a short story into a feature-length film. hollywood has been doing it for years. (for example - minority report, stand by me, the shawshank redemption, psycho, the birds). just because its adapted from a short story doesn’t make it bad. although it could’ve been done better in this case. </p>
<p>anyway, final verdict:
compared to nepali movies: 4.5/5
compared to international movies: 2/5</p>
