Sorry ppl on the waitlist :(

Another year of overenrollment... The housing situation is going to be even worse next year for upperclassmen.
Sorry to the waitlisted ppl - hope you get in somewhere else.

Oops link doesn't seem to work...

here's one that works
Class of 2012 has highest yield rate ever - The Stanford Daily Online

I am guessing the absence of caterpillars and awesome california weather during AW helped out a bit....

Don't worry, I'm not losing too much sleep over my waitlisted status ;)

YAY!!!! Stanford

woot, that's an amazing yield rate-although it will make getting a good dorm near impossible

Admissions did all they could to make sure that this year's numbers would be smaller than last year's. So far they have 1727, and the target is 1670. When the waitlists of HYP start moving, Stanford will undoubtedly lose some admits, maybe even all the way down to the target. Last year's class had 1745 for the final total. Stanford has 100 on their waitlist, and may not need to use it at all.

I think that, of the top universities, the only yield rate that's higher is Harvard's at 78%. Yale's is 69%, not sure about Princeton's or MIT's, but I doubt they're higher than 72%.

Stanford's pushing it with the numbers, but I think everyone will get a dorm room just fine--Stanford would probably build new housing if it had to.

MIT and Pton currently stand at 66 and 58 percent, respectively

^^ P'ton at 58%? I find that hard to believe... then again, its RD yield has been ~50% in the past, and ED jacked that up to 68%. Now that its eliminated ED, I'm not sure how that would affect yield, but it doesn't appear that Princeton has released its yield rate yet. Do you have a link? This seems to show that Princeton was thinking it'd be bout 63%:

I believe MIT's yield is 66%. I'm not sure about Princeton's but it can't combat Stanford's I'm sure.

MIT admissions dean discusses incoming class - MIT News Office

wow...that means next year they'll be very careful not to admit too many people..resulting in the class of 09 being screwed over again =)

when was it screwed over before? in 1909?

kyledavid80, princeton's target class is 1240, but they need 90 from the waitlist to fill that up...
So dividing 1240-90=1150 by the total acceptance (1900+, dont have the exact figures rite now), its around 57.7 percent.

narcissa is right. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THIS IS NOT GOOD. NOT GOOOOOOOD :(

“Clearly, we needed to be very aware [that] we could not have another year where our incoming class is too large,” Shaw said in March. “We would rather be slightly short of enrollment target and go to waitlist than be over.”

i hate being an 09'er sometimes...

I guess we'll have to wait and see what Princeton's figures are -- they should be released soon.

lol

I guess that Tufts Syndrome did help Stanford to raise the yield rate.

^matrixdad, see my post on your thread about your losing respect.

For those who Stanford thinks will get in elsewhere and choose that college, it sends them a likely letter. HYPS don't have Tufts Syndrome.
