Class of 2012 -- heard anything?

It appears there were phone calls going out to accepted students this time last year. Has anyone heard anything yet?

No phone call yet. I have been told it could still be toward the middle of the month. Yet I noticed last year that some kids started hearing something before the 10th!! My D is acting only but it was the same time frame!! All 5 of her auditions will probably be toward the end of March! This is getting harder because so many schools are letting them know. But that is part of it!!

Just a tip. Don't stress about phone calls. Not receiving one means nothing. My daughter was accepted to Syracuse last year. No phone calls. Just an email with a scanned copy of the hardcopy acceptance letter, received about mid March (with a large 4 year scholarship).

Thanks...I think they have my email on her information. She is now checking every morning and night, and afternoon before rehearsal and dance!! Your D is there now?

No, after some real soul searching she elected to go to a different school. But I know how tough this time of year is on everyone and I remember well reading about this time last year on CC about how phone calls and notifications were being received and how nuts it almost made me (not my daughter or wife - they were in London for a week, leaving me to watch the mailbox)! As it turned out, it appeared that Syracuse sent out 3 waves of notifications last year, each with a mix of acceptances and rejections, with no apparent correlation to audition dates. There was no rhyme or reason to the sequencing or whether you received a phone call or not. (My daughter heard in the 3rd wave and was offered the scholarship I mentioned - in other words, just because you hear late or don't get a phone call doesn't mean you are an "afterthought :) ). Sometimes the admissions office just gets to you when they get to you, particularly at a school the size of Syracuse.

I had read that , maybe it was from you, about the waves. I told my D that last night as she didn't realize that. Thanks for clarifying as she only did 5 auditions (acting only but I figure the process is similar). They were her first audition and it went well she thought. January seems like forever ago! Wish I was in London...how nice! Your posts are really helpful and informative. They help us get through this. I also hope she gets a couple choices!

My daughter did only 5 auditions too and her Syracuse audition was also in January :) . Hang in there!

My D was accepted 2 years ago and received neither an email nor a phone call -- just a skinny envelope that arrived around the 2nd week of March. Then we received a separate package from the university itself a few days later. Good luck -- I know how stressful this time is for everyone.

I looked back through old threads from last year. Daughter received her acceptance letter and an acceptance phone call on March 9th. We live in Syracuse so obviously the mail would arrive here quickly. Others in other areas of the country also received phone calls on March 9th. Then there was a lull until a week later on March 16th when others received emails, then another wave about a week later. Don't know why they went out in waves. Good luck to those who auditioned for a spot in the class of 2012 who are waiting impatiently! I remember this time last year was SOOOOOO stressful! Hang in there!

I also went back in the files and saw my son was called March 9th last year. Didn't note the day the mailing arrived in CA, though. I wish everyone the best in the coming days. It's such a tough wait for the mail...the phone...the emails. :)

What would they do if they call and you are not there?

I would guess they leave a message.

Just checked my records from two years ago -- my D's acceptance letter was dated March 23, and probably didn't arrive till several days after that. So hang in there!

My D received an acceptance email today!!

That's wonderful -- congrats! PM me if you have any specific questions, or plan to visit campus -- I'll put you in touch with my D.

My daughter received her acceptance email today for Acting!

Congrats to your daughter, floridafam! I have yet to hear anything, so I'm just hoping for the best.

floridafam -- same message to you -- congrats and contact me if you have any questions. My D is in the MT program, which is very closely related to the acting program.

My d was accepted for MT--email today.

Wow -- I guess they were busy up at Syracuse today! Well, congrats to all who did or will get an acceptance at SU. It's a wonderful program. Feel free to contact me if you have questions -- if I can't answer them myself, I'll put you in touch with my D, who is a sophomore in the MT program.
