my son got his on 2/18 ! we never realized that this was common practice for Dartmouth. I wish other school s would do the same! Congrats to all the students and parents who found out early as well.

southern California, public school

haha did any canadians get one yet?

any thoughts on where things may be in terms of which wave(s) of LLs has been mailed or how many sent out todate?

Was it just been one wave with a flurry of activity around 2/14? Is it possible there will be two more waves before reaching at total of 500?

I was wondering the same thing labhiker...

so far I've heard reported 3 different dates of letters being sent. But, it hardly seems like that is the three waves. I would've thought it would be spread out more. I think we first heard 2/8, then 2/14, and someone reported 2/18. I have a feeling that this might be all one wave? Maybe two? I am fairly sure the third wave comes in early march.

got one today!!!
dated 2/22.

Where are you located?

new york city.
does this mean i'm DEFINITELY in...?

^^^^^^ yeah, you're in

any internationals from east asia get one?

Undercover...

I'm not sure if you will read this, but I am part of the 7% lol. So it IS possible; which I'm very thankful for because CC can be very intimidating.

It seems that the first wave is over now, since no more LL reported. When is the second wave?

Looks to me like it is weekly now, not in waves like it has supposedly been in previous years since letters have been dated every Friday since the first week in Fes. (dated, not postmarked):
Feb. 8, 15, 22...

acknowledging the apparent Friday trend (8,15,22), does this imply three waves are possibly complete?

emmm.... i hope not :S

No, doubt it...some D student who works in admissions posted on some other thread that they are overwhelmed with apps so they prob. didn't have a whole wave ready by 2/8 and just decided to do it weekly. My bet is it will continue til the first week in March like it has other years. Also read on some other thread that somebody still hasn't been told his/her app is complete (on their status page), so that might give a clue to how swamped they are.

I think the notification that your app is complete is sent at a totally arbitrary time. My likely letter came like three days after I got that confirmation.

Not sure if this has been brought up before, but can any of the deferred candidates get a likely letter? Maybe they were the theoretical 'last one cut', and Dartmouth wants to make them feel better in case they have any hard feelings from being deferred.

Of course this is all speculative, but maybe someone has heard of this actually happening. I think it could be possible, especially if someone retook their SATs, sent in a new recommendation, won an award, or even got straight A's while taking 5 APs senior year. (might help a candidate who had weak freshman gpa, and this helps show an upward trend).

I'm curious to see what you guys think.
