We have been very blessed.

I just wanted to update my scholarship status.. I was offered the Regent’s Scholarship at Seton Hall University to replace my $17,500/year scholarship there. It is for full tuition & fees!!

Walt, wasn’t that the one you were an alternate for? That is FABULOUS!!! Are you taking it?

Walt, holy cow, congratulations! Does that mean that you are Seattle U’s loss?

Yes, I was an alternate for the Chancellor’s scholarship at Seton Hall. There were only a certain number given out. But I was able to increase my stats and qualify for the Regent’s Scholarship which was automatic!

Barring some unforeseen and similar offer, I’ll be attending Seton Hall next year!

Thanks!!

Total scholarships earned so far is $527,000.

Walt, you are amazing. Simply amazing.

Would you please do me a favor? Please tell those parents of yours who don’t post here that they did a fine job of raising an incredible son.

Good job walt. Feels real nice to be wanted, don’t it? If you raised goats , they’d be dancing for you. ;)

Play your hand till the end. You just never know, do you?

Congratulations to SuperMom on such an outstanding child.

My D got a full-tuition scholarship to Brandeis but she is not interested (it was my choice for her). She wants to go to UMD where she got $8/yr Prez Scholarship (honors program). She also got into NU but it’s too much money for us.

My S with 34 ACT, 3.8 weighted GPA:
full tuition four years SUNY Stony Brook
$4,000 Michigan State
No word UMD – just received acceptance letter today
UIUC – nada

Accepting UIUC – best CS school

Here are my DD acceptances and scholarships/financial aid:

USC=$30,000/per year
Tulane = $35,000/per year
Boston university $28,000/per year
University of Richmond $33,000/per year
Pomona College $19,000/ per year
Washington Univ.. St Louis $15,000/per year
Vanderbilt $5,000/year
Emory (No aid -only loans)
Duke (No aid- only loans)

She is definitely NOT attending Duke, Emory or Vanderbilt… too expensive!
Also, she already declined offer from U. Richmond (did not like!)
Tough decision between the others. He favorite is WashU…but it’s the least affordable!
After she visits Pomona and USC in a few days, she will make a decision.

Congratulations and good luck to everyone!

My s’s acceptances and scholarships;

Washington and Lee University–Johnson scholar Full Ride (200k over 4 yrs)
Brandeis Univ–Presidential 25K (100K)
Tulane–Presidential 24K (96K)
Emory–7K fin aid
Tufts–23K fin aid
Wesleyan–23K fin aid
Univ Florida–Bright Futures scholarship—full tution

Emory was originally s’s top choice–fortunately he’s got a practical streak and also turned out loving Wash and Lee–a sleeper school.
Congrats Tuitionsaver–your d did beautifully! Congrats to all on acceptances and good luck on making best choice!

My daughter has been offered full tuition at USC (Trustees), 1/2 Tuition at BU (don’t remember scholarship name) and $10,000/year at Purdue (Trustees–OOS). Her decision at this point is among USC/UCLA/Cal/BU. (No aid at UC’s)

Update #2

Here is an update on my son’s merit scholarships:

American University - $27,000/year Presidential Scholarship (merit) & Honors
U of Maryland Colege Park - $8,000/year merit & Honors
U of Delaware - $12,000 merit & Honors
UNC Chapel Hill - accepted EA, no aid
Emory - no aid
NW - $11,500 grant (financial need)

Looks like he will be attending UNC and giving up the $$ at UD, UMD, and American.

arachnophobia12-
Can you tell me a little more about your $17,900 Scholarship at Boston College??
I have been in contact with several folks at BC who have told me there are no undergrad academic scholarships… There are Financial Need Awards… there are Athletic “Scholarships”… but NO “academic” scholarships..
Appreciate any info !!!
Thanks!!

Here ya go. [Presidential Scholars Program - Boston College](http://www.bc.edu/centers/psp/)

I also googled up some scholarships for Boston area kids, business students, asian-americans,etc.

My D was offered a number of lesser merit scholarships at all of her colleges. But was given a full merit scholarship to her 1st choice, Hood College in MD. So its off to the mountains she goes. We are excited and very relieved about the scholarship!

Sistersunnie, it’s off the subject for this thread, but can you tell us about Hood? I can’t find out anything about it on CC since it doesn’t appear on the alphabetical list of schools. I visited the web site and want to know more. What did your D like? (Besides the scholarship!) And would you mind posting your D’s stats?
