So, I thought it might be helpful to make a thread with where people are applying, how it's going, and what their results are so we can all support each other in our time of stress, haha. We can keep each other posted. I guess I'll start. Don't make fun of my stats.

best of luck to you this application process is so stressful but i’m glad that i’m almost done with my BS MD apps… then i can get started on all the other apps due 1/1/12 :/

Have you prepared for the interview? I’m planning to prepare a bit over the weekend, but I was surprised that I got an interview so quickly. I thought I’d only start getting them in December.

Mine is on monday which I’m guessing is the first day of interviews. I’m still not sure whether it’s a bs md specific interview or just an honors college interview. The email said they will contact us for another interview with NJMS if they like us so I’m guessing it’s the latter. Good luck to you all :)

I’m a girl and I recently bought a full suit (blazer skirt and pants) and I think I will wear the blazer and skirt with tights tomorrow. this will be my first interview so it may be overkill but I’d rather dress to formally than too casually. also since it is an interview with the adcom and not an alumni I imagine we should be leaning towards formal attire.

any other suggestions? I’m really just hoping I don’t look too out of place haha :)

I’m a guy, so I can’t help much there, but I don’t think that’s too formal. I’m wearing a blazer, shirt and tie myself so I think we’ll be fine. Good luck tomorrow!

From D’s interview last year: dress for interviews is formal— think of it as your medical school interview (which it is, partially). Both males and females in suits.

to all you people going for njit interviews, I just had mine and here’s my advice:
-yes, dress formally (suit if you have one). glad I wasn’t the only one
-apparently only 60 ish of 160 applicants got this interview… then only 15- 20 get to the next round of interviews with NJMS. then NJMS accepts ~8 kids. it’s a lot more competitive than I thought…
-don’t freak out- Dr. Dhawan is the dean of the honors college and he does the interviews. he’s a really nice guy and he doesn’t ask any hard questions. it really felt like a conversation more than an interview. he had my file in front of him and asked me about a few specific activities I did so that was easy. there was an info session beforehand so I felt comfortable talking to him by the interview.
overall I think I did pretty well. I saw him writing down stuff on an evaluation sheet… part of it was a checklist and it looked like he gave me the highest recommendation in each category!
good luck to you guys and let me know how it goes!

Those going to medical school interviews for combined program - my advice would be to dress formal. You are meeting at least one professor in an office environment and they are usually formal.

No, it accepts students from other states too, though you’d probably be better off at your state medical school than at UMDNJ. UMDNJ is pretty good, but not really worth going to from out of state.

@thehopefuleone: I guess we were in the same room for those 4 hours today. I was the Indian guy with the blazer and red shirt and glasses. Who were you?
