Class of 2012, TOP school & academic profile?

okay, I'm currently a junior now, and I would like to compare notes with other juniors....how college searching has been going, courses, etc.

so here, post your academic profile, kind of like a "chance me" but not really. what's your favorite school, pros AND cons? ED vs RD? ECs, tests scores, the whole nine.

NOTE what i'm about to post, i have posted before on a chance me. I am not "trolling", I just want to take this in a different direction. THANKS & ENJOY & LET'S HELP EACH OTHER!!!

I'm a female. I am also African American. I used to want to go to MIT, I still do, but not as much. It would be best for me to be submersed in an environment of intelligent black women like myself. My ECs are weak (in my opinion in comparison to others). My DREAM school is SPelman COllege in ATL. Anyone attended Spelman that can give me valuable information?

Rank- 9/278 (not sure of total, but that's close, i know i'm top 3% and this reporting is as of the end of 10th grade, they didn't refactor, but i know i went up because of APs & my As in them)

Simple GPA- 3.97 but that's not what my school uses for ranks.
First honors every semester since freshman year (I'm a junior now). Straight A's since freshman year as well.

I only listed CORE courses, you can do whatever.

9th grade-
English 1H, Algebra 2H, Biology H, World Study H, Latin 1 unleveled (latin brings my GPA/RANK down soooo much because of this).

10th grade-
English 2H, Civics H, PreCalculus H, Latin 2, Chemistry H,

11th grade-
AP Calc ab, AP Stats, AP us history, physics H, Latin 3, English 3H

12th grade tentative schedule(positive it's going to happen)-
English 4AP, AP physics, AP Calc bc, AP psychology.

Now I take a visual basic 1 class at community college. If I do not get accepted to the MITES program and don't get an internship at Sikorsky, I will take a cognitive science (i hope they have it) & sculpture (because i love art) during the summer at Community College, also. During the fall semester I will take visual basic 2 or C+/C++.

I'm looking at the dual engineering program at Spelman.

Test scores-
Best SAT-
M- 620 CR-670 W-650 will take again in June
PSAT-
M- 620 CR-630 W-630
AP tests coming in May.

Brief overview of ECs/awards-
Varsity track & field grade 9&10
Over 400 volunteer hours at summer camp for children with disabilities, Silver medal in national Latin exam, scholastic award for Art, student of month for family&consumer science, art, and latin. Own website (still in construction) for Lupus, plan on doing health fairs for lupus etc.

Spelman is my DREAM school.

POST ON >^-^< <----kitty with whiskers!

You will probably definitely get into Spelman. While it’s well respected, it’s not too hard to get into.

PS the classes i’m taking are the highest my school offers… the only other APs are chem, bio, french, spanish & engineering

raiderade, what’s your profile?
how’s your search going? or did you get into college already?

Maybe you’ll have better luck asking here: [Spelman College - College Confidential](Spelman College - College Confidential Forums)
