Pacific Islander and Native American.
Uhm, I don’t know about the first one though… some say Islanders are URMs, some say they aren’t.

URM status: Being an under-represented minority, I’m assuming…

Anyone else have junioritis?

URM status: Being an under-represented minority, I’m assuming…

Anyone else have junioritis?

I do!!! OMG i’m suffering, I can’t do anything anymore. My quarter G.P.A. died.
I’m so focused on college and not thinking about what is going on inbetween.

So I guess since i’m african american i would be a URM?

yeaah that’s what urm stands for… some people are urms for certain things.
like male nurses are urms. and i heard asians dont count as urm in the technology field because there are a lot of them.
in a perfect world, there’d be no urm (:

I HAVE JUNIORITIS. heck, i’ve had the itis since after the first day of freshman year. i’m just trying to maintain my class rank (i’ve reached my goal which was top six, the top six get a profile spread in a newspaper run by Yale<333). so now i’m ready to just stay sixth and leave forever!!

blackrose101, Me too, and yes we do count (:

URM: Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans, (and since everyone seems to leave this out) and Pacific Islanders. So yes, you definitely count lol.

I’ve had it since the first day of frosh year, too. My GPA dropped so damn much… at first I wasn’t sure what to do, so I called my mom and almost broke down. She was holding back a laugh and told me everything would be fine, and that admissions people look at the entire candidate (holistically).

Not sure how much my GPA can go up from here… gah.

i think of urm outside of the race factor too.

what’s frosh? don’t laugh at me
and yeah i need to get my ECs up. i’m going to volunteer for habitat for humanity

i’m automaticaly in the top 22 because i’m an I.B. student. So i’m like in the top 20 most likely. I still need to ask for my rank. I’m scared to ask lolz.

I’ll look up if black journalists are a URM. Do people get money for that?

I know nothing at all, my school college guidance office does not help out juniors.

Being a junior is killing me because i need high scores so that I can apply EA next year to my top two schools. I want to be serious competition against other kids. And I need scholarships to even think about going to school. So I just wnat to get A’s and B’s this semester so that I can be free next year, but of course i’m being lazy and sluggish . :p

i’ve never gotten a B on a report card in high school… and i’m taking 3 of the hardest APs next year (eng, psych, physics) i am afraid. i don’t wanna drop my rank
and you have to be really proactive at my school. they tell jrs to take the SAts in june and then sept of senior year… but that’s not enough prep time. i took them in 7,8,10,11th grades and my score is 200 points higher than people who are above me in rank, i think it’s because i’ve gotten more practice.

Top Choices…?
Yale, Penn, Columbia, MIT, Princeton, and a bunch of safeties

alwysgraceful03- yeah the language kills my GPA, and health/gym dont count for us (:

my new top are- MIT, Yale, Lehigh, Carnegie Mellon, UPenn, Columbia, and RPI and safeties sigh like Northeastern, BU, Rutgers, Umass amherst

^
People like you are what make me stay up all night and study. U=You ahve enever had a B?!?!?
How do you store all that info?
Teachers flat out tell us that they will not give us perfect scores in some classes. They drop us in everything and when we complain they say “You are I.B. students a C or B is really an A or B, no worries.”

No worries my foot. >:/

I’m going to retake the SAT’s in May or April, whichever time they offer it. Then i’ll do Literature Subject SAT II tests in June. Then next year will be my last try. O’ gosh, I need at least a 1700. I can do better in english because it’s my thing but math makes me cry.

Frosh = Freshman haha.

Our school doesn’t tell us anything… it’s every student for himself. Well, at least my guidance counselor doesn’t tell us anything.
We have an IB counselor, and then we have a counselor for all the grades for people who aren’t in IB. I’m not in IB, which sucks but I like my freedom :p

I got 2 C’s on my report card, which stings but I’ll get over it.
It sucks because at any other school, my grade would be a B and I’d be safe.

I’m definitely trying to be serious competition against other kids, but EC’s-wise I think I’ve got that covered.

Plus, I’ve finally decided to apply EA to Stanford this fall.

Bahaha I feel the same way.
Which is why I’m taking Math Studies next year  It’s embarrassing, but math just doesn’t come naturally to me. No sense in me taking Mathematics and fail my ass out.

^
You’re a senior i’m guessing.

I heard that Stanford is hard to get into.

My top choice is NEU. I just want to be accpeted there (right now i’m wearing their school gear as pj’s lolz). I will apply EA next year.

Gosh, you’re exactly like me. Lehigh’s one of my safeties, too.
Ahh, you’re lucky! gym/health and languages, plus the required electives are terrible. They’re only worth 4.3 so that drags our GPA down so much.

I’ve never had a B either. Actually, I’ve never had an A-, now that I think about it.

just calculated my new W/UW gpa (goo parent portal!)
UW- 4.05/4.3 — because of language grrr
W- 4.15/4.5— again, the language!!!

Me? I’m a junior.

lol top choice is MIT by far.

Man… An C or a B is equal to an A or a B.

But if it’s possible for me to get an A… I’m gonna work for the A.

Still rank 11… 4.274 GPA. Given the lack of work I put in… this is surprisingly high.

blackrose101-honestly i have no idea =/ but im glad (:
marine-why not just say fresh? haha im lost
alwys- my latin is unleveled, which means in order to earn 3.3 credits (the highest) i would have to get an A+…which i do have but still. it should count more.

what is your UW?
My I.B. GPA is a 4.1 (for last quarter) but regular GPA is lower and overall is much lower

MIThopeful16- since frosh (hahaha i like it) year i went from rank 13, to 11, to 9, and now 6 (: it’s more pressurous (yes not a word but necessary) now that i’ve reached my goal, i would have rather reached it towards the end of next year so less time to fail =/
