Class of 2012 USC hopefuls ..

Ahhh! congrats, that must feel really good. I'm still kind of hung up on their 2nd short answer question, but I think my essay is one of the better ones I've written. It doesn't really help that my mom keeps telling me I won't get into USC, either ...

Submitted mine like a week ago. And I was supposed to have an interview with them today, but had to cancel due to the crazyass weather.

Sigh.

USC Hopeful...seriously hopeful...

Why would she say you can't get in?

I don't know, probably because she hates me. haha. I don't think that my numbers are all that bad, I'm abysmal at writing essays but maybe if they ask me for an interview that would be good? I don't live anywhere near any of their off-campus interview sites so I don't know what to do about that one.

My mom would love for me to go to USC because it's close to my godmother. But even though it's hard to get in, my dream is still Stanford.

USC is like .. the best school I'm applying to because my mom flips out about paying for college. No Ivies for me. bah. And my mom would honestly love for me to go to KU (I'm from Kansas) but I want to get faaaaar away from here.

Hah. I wouldn't want to be in Kansas either. I'm applying to Yale and Columbia too. My parents have no idea what college costs. >_>

MY mom does, and she says she'll pay for KU but nowhere else. GAH! Not fair. Just because I want to get out of here ....

But we just had a nice long talk where she told me how crappy I am at everything I do and how I'll never get a scholarship from USC and how many kids from my school that are better than me are applying. I feel great. haha.

I know there are plenty of people better than me at my school...but I want to try anyway! As for scholarships...if it's only based on academics and not SAT scores, then I'm in. I'm in the top ten. xD

I don't know about my SAT score, it's not good but it's not terrible either. And if scholarships were based on academics, that'd be awesome. But I have a feeling it's based on essays, and I suck at writing essays..... ahhhhhh

Essays? That'd be weird. They're merit based scholarships, aren't they?

Yeah, but I have a feeling that they want to make sure you're a well-rounded not psycho person. But I think my quick takes make me sound psycho anyway.... so oh well! I honestly just want to get a scholarship to stick it to my mom. haha, that's terrible. butttttt, I don't know. SAT sucks. My ACT score's pretty good though....

My SAT and ACT scores suck. =/

ehhh, standardized testing sucks. in general. :(

Sorry to hear Joli. I think now I'm glad I did mine in November, the streets are like ice rinks with the freezing rain and the snow.

i have my usc interview in chicago this saturday!! im extremely excited; and not stressed out...i actually think its going to be fun!! is this strange haha?? can anyone who has had their interview lready give me a few tips or pointers about some questions they asked? thanks so much!!

We had a thread about scholarships a while ago. Apparently, essays are very important.

To caliboi, just go in with that EXACT mindset. When I went all I had was a book I wanted to read while waiting, everyone else were dressed to a tee or holding resumes, etc. They don't look at those, at least not in the interview. Furthermore, I think if you are confident in yourself, you can sell yourself, but then again I've been a telemarketer for like three years. They ask the basic what classes you taking, some favorite ecs, spare time, etc. Some of the ones that almost surprised me but I kept up with were talk about an event now that might impact our future (i actually used the degrading of our social security system), and we got to talk about a lot of random stuff which was cool. My interview liked Harry potter to so that was cool. They are all pretty cool from what I could tell (the lady from Marshall approached me and started a convo with me afterwards).

Do you still have a link to the thread? I thought my essay was really good. ^_^

So I JUST sent in the last things of my application, which was the photocopies of all test scores. I finally submitted all the online stuff yesterday, and my transcript and teacher reports were in 2 weeks ago.

Weird things happened to me while I was walking to the post office though...

1) I was licking the envelope, and my hand sliiped a bit and for a moment, I thought I had got a paper cut but in my mouth. BUT seconds later, I realized nothing in that area hurt anymore

2) 3 bees flew around me for like...10 seconds (but it felt like 10 minutes...i was so scared) BUT they didn't sting me.

3) Only halfway to the post office, I ran into a mailman! I asked him if he could take my letter, and he said yes. BUT he frowned at me and gave me a hard glare.

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEANNN??
