I support of MIT, the acceptance rate is an eensy bit higher, though it’s also a more competitive pool. But if MIT’s his first choice, and not any ED/SCEA schools, he might as well apply early because it’s the only chance at getting an acceptance tube with a poster, and cards for Valentine’s Day and Christmas/New Years.

^ Is Yale the same way? Is there much of a difference between ED and RD?

^Yale has SCEA, so there is much more than the negligible EA advantage, but less than ED. Again, SCEA has a more competitive pool though.

Class of 2012!

You must all be extremely smart if all of your school’s are Ivy’s or top colleges (speaking to the whole '12 class forum lol).

@PioneerJones

apparently you are not aware of ELC. as long as you are in your top 5% of the class in a CALIFORNIA SCHOOL you can go to practically any UC school. all the number 1, 2, and 3 students at my school always get accepted to UCB. if you are not aware, i’m number 1 and with much greater stats than those 3 so far in terms of extracurriculars and PSAT and SAT scores and it’s definitely going to be just that when i apply. rice has also been emailing me and mailing me several times. & for UMA, i am a legacy - my mom went there.

it sounds arrogant but those schools are definitely safeties for me. i’m confident i have a high probability of getting accepted to those schools as long as i play my cards right and follow the plan i have created.

@TRUFFLIEPUFF

What year are you graduating high school?

@Pioneer Jones

2013

UVA
Dartmouth
Georgetown
Columbia
W&Mary
Amherst
Princeton (considering I live in the town)
Bucknell (safety)
Miami of Ohio (safety)

others, I have made a grand total of 0 college visits besides Princeton so far.

My parents want Harvard. I’m like: LOL.

@TRUFFLIEPUFF

Yeah, you’re a freshman. Stuff happens and things change.

How do you know you’re better than your peers at SATs, PSATs, and extracurriculars when you’ve only been in school for one year? Not to mention several schools disregard freshman grades entirely.

@PioneerJones
I already took the SATs and PSATs. I scored higher than them. Yeah, *****ty school but oh well the UC schools seem to love this school and accept a good handful of them from here all the time. And this school is really easy. I changed schools after 7th and 8th grade from a competitive high school that’s ranked #1 in the state and #3 in the nation. A’s at my current school are really easy to come by. as for my extracurriculars i’m already going to be President (and cofounder) and VP of several clubs next year as a sophomore whereas they were only for one year in senior year. i’ve also won several awards and diplomas in my piano, go to chinese school, tennis, etc. i’m getting into summer research next summer at caltech too for computer programming btw. i’m planning on competing in Intel ISEF.
and yeah i basically already outnumber all of them.
i know what i’m doing. i’ve been planning college since the 5th grade.

What was your SAT score?

^ SAT: 1920, PSAT: 200
again…****ty school

I have a lot of trimming to do.
but here.
Harvard (Dream College)
Yale
Princeton
Columbia
UPenn
Brown (Definately Applying)
Cornell (Definately Applying)
UChicago
Georgetown(Definately Applying)
William and Mary
Notre Dame(Not Sure)
University of Southern California
University of Rochester/ Eastman School of Music (Safety, the Music School wouldn’t be though)
Georgia State (Safety)

You should definitely retake your SAT again, though, since you’re so confident about the schools. Maybe get over a 2300. That makes no sense, though. You said that your school is ranked #1 in state and #3 in the nation, then you say that it is a ****ty school?

I forgot to Add UCB and RPI to my list.
My safeties would be UVA, V-Tech, GMU, and VCU.

^^ yeah i got that handled. i’m training at a SAT boot camp this summer and should get it to at least 2200 when i retake it in november.

NO. I said I went to the #1 state and #3 nationally best school in SEVENTH & EIGHTH grade and then TRANSFERRED out. I’m in 9th grade now at a NEW school.

I got an 1830 my first time, cold. But I am studying for the SAT religiously this summer. Also doing the same for my ACT, which I got a 30 cold.
