ajay, i too have the sameproblem with me. my parents wanted me to study mbbs, but i took maths instead of biology in my class 12. and with that u can do only engineering in nepal.and hope u know, engineering here at nepal, is the last thing i m gonna do. still i m forced to do the entrance preparation coz all my frens r gonna be doctors n my parents fear that i will end up in nothing if i get lost in this study abroad process. see!horns of a dilemma! sat is the main thing for me too!

I hope you get into the college that you are hoping for!!!

Hey guys, Class of 2012 here

Thinking about applying to 6-7 schools. 8 max.

I’m in a country who doesn’t sell many SAT books.. I had to order my 2400 Barrons from the net which arrived after a month.. and I don wanna wai for another month.. So could anyone tell me where can I get the Barrons vocab list the 3500 word list the 50 lists.. Pls.. thanks..

what country is that?
cuz there might be a much simpler answer to your problem..

Brunei (in Southeast Asia near Spore)

The SAT books here are old.. i don't take Economics but still know a bit of supply demand.. no demand here (to go to US, well most prefer UK) so no high quality SAT books..

sorry, it's nearer to Malaysia,

why don't you order them from amazon other than .com? say, .co.uk or sth else in proximity to your region. And I have to tell u, that if u chose regular mail, that's always how much it takes for any book to come...
so u might wanna rethink the venue of your orders as well as the speed delivery u choose..

There's no way to get them for free?.. and free of waiting time? hehe..

12 days until my SAT scores come out!!

p.s. i hate you naidu. what are you doing here anyway? you're not even international. leave please!

kidding, thou shalt be forgiven!

rister : I think she is an international student :p

And this is my thread [well actually ours ;)] But I wont tolerate any nuisance with naidu! :D :D :D

BTW PEOPLE I HAVE DECIDED TO APPLY ED TO Dartmouth

her location is NY - so either she lives in New Zealand and made a stupid typo or she's from New York?!

why do you apply ED to a school? isn't MIT your dreamschool?

Well not anymore.... MIT is second on my list! :D

Well she stays in NY but isnt an american citizen

ah i see! sorry!

good luck with Dartmouth, I've heard the school is fun!

Its not just fun its FUN!!! get the idea? :D

Where are you applying Rister?

i will decide where to apply (and RD/ED) after I've visited schools in fall. At this stage, Penn seems to be the best for me and my goals and I can also imagine applying ED -- but nothing's for sure yet. I'm also fine with applying nowhere ED if I'm not set on any school.

ajayc, do you live in a rural or urban place right now? aren't you afraid of being in the middle of nowhere? (I don't have problems with Dartmouth nor do I want to challenge your decision. Just wondering)

hey, no problem Rister you can ask anything you want EVEN if you are challenging my decision ;) I live in one of the metro cities of India. I suppose the biggest city in India.

Now coming to the case of Dartmouth. I accept that Dartmouth isnt in BIG city. But college for me is having the time of your life, making strong relationships etc. Dartmouth Engg. Dept allows me to have close interaction with the Professors and also they motivate their students to think about innovations. Thats all I need!

Dartmouth Campus is breath taking! People say that going to Darmouth is like going on a 4 year holiday!

Cheers!

@ajayc - How do you know MIT won't have those qualities?
Plus how do you know Dartmouth has those qualities? Have you visited it and interacted with its professors?

I never said MIT wont have those qualities. What matters is what college FITS you. You shouldnt be following the crowd. Just because everyone wants to goto MIT so do I.

I have been talking with a lot of students from Dartmouth and been reading their blogs and news. Also read the College Visit reports here on CC. Its just absolutely wonderful! I love dartmouth! and that ends it for me.

Consider Caltech dont even think of going there until and unless you are a hardcore maths and science guy. Because even after studying all day long people dont get above B or something :D :D

just kidding if you love caltech or MIT then so be it!

Oh I see you are going to USC, Congratulations and Good Luck!!

@ajayc - Actually I'm going to Brown '11
