Class of 2012

Congratulations. Recommend he hold out for Navy! :)

Go Navy! Beat Army!

I just talked to son and he told me that 31 kids at MMI on prep got there appts this past week

yay i'm official. :-D got my appointment in the mail a few weeks ago and accepted it! see everyone june 30.

I am looking for information on Insoles for the boots/shoes. We already got the boots and shoes at WP, but did not buy insoles at that time. Any input on the best type to buy??

yay! got the appointment last night!

ProudMomma, i image any insert would work in the acu boots... when i bought my boots the clerk recommended special inserts that are the equivelant to "boil bite" mouthguards where you put them in the oven and then step into them in the boot and they mold to your foot (they are excellent)... the only problem any of this may encounter is if they are not permitted durring in-processing

Thanks for the information on insoles ... does anybody know if they are permitted for Beast??

My son (2010) did not take insoles with him, but did buy some at the Cadet store during Beast. He loves the ones rah rah decribed (heat in the oven).

The list is growing and I see lots of new names – Congratulations everyone!!

I got my acceptance about 2 weeks ago, but wont accept till I hear one way or the other from USNA, and then I have to decide if i can balance being Jewish with the requirements of the service academies. It would really help if any one knows a religious Jew at a service academy now that I could talk to.

Did you read Absolutely American? There was a cadet in the story who had dragged his feet about his bar mitzvah and actually had it his plebe year! You should find the post rabbi's email and contact him.

Sorry if this is too far off topic but I have not seen if National Merit Scholarship funds can be used for the cadet account deposit to cover costs at USMA. Does anyone have experience with this?

I accepted my offer of Admission today...see everyone on the 30th...swimmers/divers see you on the 29th!!

You go girl! Stay tight and get vertical!!

I would also like to know about NM scholarship stuff like bwpp.

From the 2011 "Instructions for Candidates Offered Admission", page 4:

"Cadets are permitted to receive scholarships. However, since there is no tuition, room or board charges at West Point, scholarships stipulated "for tuition, room or board only," or based on need rather than merit cannot be accepted."

NM scholarships are not specifically mentioned in the Scholarships section of the 2011 booklet. Perhaps the NM scholarship website would have some information about how their scholarship money is to be used.

You could also ask the question on Prospective Net.

Good luck! Just being considered for the NM scholarship is a great honor. Congratulations to all NM finalists!
