I read this on the Michigan website today:

"This has, without question, been our most competitive admissions cycle in history."

Any word on the stats/profile (SAT, GPA, acceptance rate) of the class of 2012?

It is too soon to tell. Michigan is still waiting to get all their deposits. Once that is done, if they miss their target, they may have to admit slightly more students. SAT/ACT ranges and acceptance rates are not yet finalized.

If I were a betting man, I would guess Michigan will end up with a 42%-43% acceptance rate and a mean SAT/ACT somewhere around 1340-1350/30.

Perhaps hoedown can give us some insight.

I read that they will release the information in mid-May, it's sort of mid-may now...

Michigan will only get more and more applications every year, and Michigan hasn't even gone to the common application yet. we have always been a popular school, but will get even more popular, I think the trend is that schools with good social life are receiving more applications at a rate faster than others.

That looks good. I'd really like to see the acceptance rate dip below 40%, though.

I don't think acceptance rate is a big deal, University of Chicago was always a very selective school despite having 45+% acceptance rate. I'd rather have students who really want to come to Michigan apply.

Good point. I'd like to see the SAT average climb even higher though.

At this rate, Michigan's acceptance rate should drop below 40% next year. And Chicago's acceptance rate has dropped to under 35%. It used to be 40%-45%, but in the last 2 years, they have dropped below 40%.

SAT/ACT scores will keep on improving at Michigan, but marginally since Michigan does not put to much emphasis on standardized tests. Of course, if Michigan started to superscore SATs like private schools do, I think (this is just a theory, not a fact) Michigan's SAT average would probably jump 30-40 points, up to 1350-1370 or so.

I also want to see the stats for out of state students, and their acceptance rates. Kids in my school that got into BC are saying stuff because their acceptance rate is lower. I told them to look at the rank, but I still want to know the stats for an out of state student.

Generally speaking, BC accepts a lower percentage of applicants, but Michigan mean scores are roughly as high as BC's, even though BC superscores and Michigan deemphasizes standardized tests.

We need profiles !
