I just had my Emerson audition and I didn’t think it was worth creating a new thread for. I did my monologue, and he asked me what attracted me to that particular monologue/character. I answered honestly and he thanked me for my time. I thought I did well, but I’m disheartened because he’d asked everyone before me to either alter their monologue and do it again, or for another monologue. I loved the school, but oh well. I’ll try and do better for the next audition.

So happy for you ugadog99! What a great combination to feel great about the school and then find out right away that she is admitted.

Eve – I know it is very hard not to analyze everthing that happened but try not to read too much into whether or not you were asked to alter the monologue. At the two schools my daughter has been accepted at, other kids were asked to do adjustments and she was not so it really can’t be viewed as some kind of yes or no decision. And there many many post over the years of people having been accepted with every possible audition experience what can think of.

Again, I know this is way easier said that done. But all you can do in this process is focus on making the next audition the best one you can.

Great Big Congrats to Ugadog’s D on CCU acceptance!
Very exciting and encouraging!
Keep up the great news!

They can probably tell what they need to know in the first 30 seconds.

Major, major congratulations Ugadog!! What a great acceptance to have in hand! I’m hoping for a great FA package to go with it but even so-- enjoy this big time, it is wonderful, and doubly wonderful because you were so pleased with the visit!!

Eve - first rule…walk out of each audition and start anew…no analyzing, you just cannot know what they are thinking!

Ugadog…YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!

UGADOG99; Awesome news. This is a a program we are definitely keeping on the list and will look to your and your daughter for more “inside” information when she ends up going there:)

I am going to continue to believe that they will offer her an outstanding financial package and make this more then just a hope and a dream but CCU Reality!

Ugadog - CONGRATS! That’s really wonderful news!:)

Thanks, everyone else. I’m trying not to over-analyze things, but that’s just the way my brain works, so it’s sort of impossible. I just did a random walk-in with a school called the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. It was totally off the cuff, I did my contemporary dramatic and my Shakespeare, and they asked me to sing! It was a lot of fun and they called me back, but unfortunately their available callback times conflicted with my pre-scheduled auditions. Oh well, it was a lot of fun!

Ugadog, huge congrats!! Sounds like a great fit for your daughter, and how wonderful to find out so quickly!

Eve, thank you so much for posting updates about Chicago–sounds like things are going well for you too! Liverpool sounds interesting–will keep our fingers crossed that you might still manage to arrange a callback. Keep the news coming! :D

Congrats Ugadog! Hope the financial offer is great!

Just finished with Hartt. The info session was great, they seem to have a very impressive program. I really do like the school, certainly more today than the day before. I did my monologues - I’m pretty sure I went over time, but they weren’t timing and didn’t seem to mind - and then answered the question, “What are you looking for in a college?” It was a lot of fun:)

FUN!!! How I love to see that word in your descriptions, Eve848! Glad you are having fun at the auditions, and it sounds like you are confident, which will surely come through to the auditors. Keep the updates coming!

Thanks, everyone! We are definitely enjoying the excitement today. I know we have a lot more steps in this process, but it’s a pretty happy day right now.

Eve, I’m glad you are having fun. I’ve heard great things about Hartt.

Congrats and best wishes to everyone this week! I am thinking of you all. Keep having fun!

Point Park, this morning, was brief but went well. I performed, and they asked if I had any questions. I said yes and we discussed summer stock. Then I had Roosevelt. The auditor was really easy-going, and we also discussed summer stock as well as Shakespeare, and a current student who I know. Third, today, was Pace. I did my monologue and a scene with an assigned partner, and then I was cut. Which stings given my recent academic acceptance and scholarship offer.

It always stings. But it sounds like you’ve done your very best, applied to a wide group of schools, and can feel proud of your work. We’re all rooting for you!

GwenFairfax, I was so psyched about ugadog’s and eve’s news that I overlooked your helpful comments on URI–thank you! I’d noticed that the faculty was, er, a “lean” group with plenty of guest artists pitching in, and I’ve read that they’re starting to plan for renovations on the facility. Have heard good things about the area in general for theater. We will try to visit. Thanks again!
