Class of 2013--checking in!

Shacherry, it does sound like it’s time to start an acceptance thread…but meantime, congrats to all, and big hugs to those who have been deferred or declined–your day will come!

Congrats Times3 and researchmaven!

I wish I could get my daughter cancel some of these but with the confidence of having been accepted at one, she’s not viewing the remaining ones with such trepidation and is actually looking forward to it. It was such a smart decision to do rolling admission schools early though not sure I would have felt this way if she did not get into either of them. We are still waiting on Hartt. Most of the schools that were in play for being dropped – Syracuse, Ithaca, CCM – are schools we have not visited so it is a little hard to make a comparison without going. And if Dad is willing to drive (saying no to her is not something I do well), whats it to her to go on an adventure and visit more schools.

We have two travel auditions down for BFA-MT - CCM & Point Park. Shenandoah coming up in mid-January. Because my son auditioned at National Thespian Festival in June and had callbacks to Ohio Northern and South Dakota (both BFA-MT), we don’t have to go there just yet. However, between now and end of March we have 8 additional auditions…argggh. He’s already been accepted to St. Mary’s Minnesota with some nice scholarship $ for BA-MT, and so that’s a really nice option too.
He was put on hold at CCM and now rejected; waitlisted at Rider. Waiting to hear from UofArts and PPU. He really liked the folks at Point Park. Fastening the safety belt cause this is going to be a ride!

Congratulations ActingDad and ResearchMaven, and Times3!!! Definitely time to start the acceptance thread-- what a great beginning!!

^^Marbleheader’s son has a huge admit too! But…can we actually start those threads, or does the moderator do it? I’m not clear on the protocol… :/

Haha, I think I’d congratulated Marbleheader and son already, Times3–but there can’t be enough congratulations for all this great news! I think in the past someone started an acceptance thread and then a moderator stuck it to the top of the forum? Not sure.

Okay…I have a free period at school and it’s the last day of classes, so…I think I’ll give it a try! I’m sure many people will let me know if I do it wrong. Also, if I’ve missed anybody, well–you know what to do!

Thanks for doing that - Times3. I just saw it and notice the University of Montana listed for your S. Awesome!

And yes, Gwen, you did congrats to me, but hey I’ll take it again!

Best of Holidays to all of you!

Congrats Marbleheader!

I can now confirm what people have said here over and over again yet we had a hard time believing it. My daughter had such a positive vibe from the U of Arts audition that she felt very confident (a Meisner teacher bonding with a kid who has a lot of experience with the technique was just a natural bonding) she was going to get in. She didn’t have anything like that experience at Hartt (though Gwen advised in a PM that it was part personality of the interviewer) and she felt like for sure she was not getting into Hartt. She got one of those little envelopes today and thought for sure it was a rejection. She was wrong! It was an acceptance into Hartt.

Congrats, ActingDad!

Love saying “I told you so!” ActingDad! Congrats!

My S was accepted to VCU (BFA) Lighting Design.

Congratulations to your son, hmh! And when you get a chance, please add him to the acceptance threads! :)

My S was accepted to Hartt but not accepted to Shenandoah. Fortunately, we were out of town when the letters arrived so he received both last night, and the Hartt acceptance way overshadowed the Shenandoah no thank you. We were also at the PPU audition in Atlanta and I spoke to them before the holidays, the admisssions office said they were reviewing the auditions that week and we should not expect anything until after the holidays. My son already was accepted academically to PPU. The Shenandoah letter was interesting as it indicated SU would like for him to consider another major but for him, it is acting or he is not interested. My D is a sophomore at SU and loves it, so really, no hard feelings! And, my S insists on going to Unifieds to audition for the others he had planned on so we will be making the trip to NYC in February but he will not be nearly as stressed as he might have been originally.

Photomom, congratulations to your son on his Hartt acceptance! That’s a fantastic option (and one that I hope my S will have this spring). Perhaps we’ll bump into you at NYC Unifieds…and I hope you’re adding his info to the 2013 acceptance threads. :)

Man - that Hartt class of 2017 is looking pretty dang strong! I’m glad I can drive to CT easily to see some of the shows this talented crowd will be putting on!

Thank you! We live in Georgia so if that is where my son ends up, we will figure it out! I have made the very long drive more than a few times to see my D in her shows at Shenandoah. That drive will not be easy to Hartford…guess flying will be back in our future :)

Hey y’all! I’ve been off the boards for a while for the holidays. We returned late Saturday night from our WDW trip. It was wonderful to have nine days of NO college discussion.

However, once I got back home, the pressure began to build again. I’m sure you have all been down the second guessing route. I seem to travel that road quite often. Honestly, I spent the first three days after we returned with my head stuck in the sand trying to ignore all the things we needed to do. Alas, the time came today when it was time to return to the search. We are trying to firm up all of her interviews and still going back and forth on whether to add one last school or not. I think those two rejection letters she received right before the break have us both wondering if we’ve made the right decisions. We have several questions that need to be answered by various schools, but since most of them are still not in session, the waiting continues.

Photomom5, I have this sneaky suspicion that you and I had a conversation at the Atlanta PPU audition day. Congrats to your son on Hartt. I wish it had a tech program because I think my D would fit well there.

ugadog99…if you were the family whose daughter was waiting for her tech interview, then indeed we did! I did not speak to very many people as we were not there long and I was very tired from the drive! Glad you had fun in Disney! I am so sorry about any rejections, they are not fun.

Hi everyone.
I’m new to the forum, this is one of my first posts. However, I’ve been reading along for a while. Thank you for how helpful all of the information you’ve provided has been!

I’m a senior in high school this year and am currently in the middle of the audition process for a number of BFA actor training programs. I started out with two early auditions at the only two schools I was interested in. The most recent was U of Arts in Philly, where I was rejected due to not receiving a same day callback. While that was disheartening, it was far away from being my top school. The rejection that hit the hardest was the one from my dream school, Boston University, where I auditioned and applied early decision. I’d attended their summer program, BUSTI, and was enamored with the program, location and school as a whole.

Regardless of whether I was rejected for my talent or grades, my rejection from BU is still hard to stomach on a daily basis. However, after much deliberation with my parents, as well as serious consideration of a gap year, I’ve decided to apply and audition elsewhere. Hopefully I’ll manage to find happiness somewhere besides my dream school. I don’t know, that remains to be seen.

Moving on. I’m now in the process of applying to a number of schools; Pace University, University of Hartford, Point Park University, Webster University, New School for Drama, Roosevelt University, DePaul University and Emerson College. All of my auditions will hopefully be at unifieds in Chicago, although my DePaul audition is scheduled for the day immediately following unifieds.

Nice to meet everyone!
