Class of 2013/ College class of 2017. Where do you want to go so far?

I think my top choice is Yale, but I have zero shot at getting in.

Ugh, I know. Just about all my choices are high reaches. Except like Binghamton, which I really actually don’t have any reason to want to go.

Yeahh same. I’d loovee to go to Yale. <3 Or MIT<3

I’m a pretty good student- but from the ones i’ve visited so far my tops are Elon and East Carolina (I’m far above average for ECU, but I would go to their honors college) and my reach/dream would be Michigan where I would manage basketball hopefully, but I don’t think i’ll get in, nor can I afford it.

Reed is by far my first choice. Stanford, Columbia, Denver, Lewis and Clark, and St. John’s are also up there.

Haha so many Stanford hopefulls! Even more than Harvard. :p

I wanted to go to Harvard after watching the Social Network XD… still Darren Aronofsky has pretty much laid down my plan in college. Take cultural anthropology and live action film, hopefully get in a good film school, and make good movies.

Sent from my Nexus One using CC App

Really? I didn’t really like that movie. And good luck with your goals! :P

The Social Network is THE greatest movie of all time.

You really think so? I thought it was rather boring.

My dream school is Dartmouth! The scenery is gorgeous and the college itself is amazing. I really hope I get in.

Dartmouth is great; I’d go ED there if I didn’t want to apply to Gtown and Boston College early action.

I am sorry but this may seem as a nooby question but what is ED, REA, & EA? Thanks in advance.

Stanford/Brown (tie), Harvard, MIT, UCBerkley, University of Michigan, University of British Columbia (Vancouver)

@Even05 ED is Early Decision, which means that if you get accepted, you HAVE to go there. Most schools offer ED. (Columbia, Brown, Penn, Cornell, etc)
REA- Restrictive Early Action- Not binding; you can apply to other EA/REA schools, but not to ED schools. (Georgetown, Boston College, etc)
SCEA- Single choice early action- not binding, but you only get to apply to that one school early. (HYP. etc)
EA- not binding; you can apply anywhere else at the same time, except single choice obviously. (MIT, Caltech, Northeastern, UChicago, etc)

“ED is Early Decision, which means that if you get accepted, you HAVE to go there.”

Except that when applying for financial aid, acceptance will come with a FA offer, which can be declined if the family finds it insufficient; then you apply RD elsewhere as if ED had not been attempted.

Very true^

Anyone planning on applying to any of the big three schools?

Harvard/Columbia/Brown
:)

My list so far contains

Cornell
UPenn
Amherst College
Williams College
UofTexas:Austin
UofWashington
Yale
UC: Berkeley
Carnegie Mellon
Vanderbilt
Georgetown
Naval Academy

A bunch of these schools are possible recruiting options my real top choices are Navy, UofWashington, and Yale
