Class of 2013 from Nepal

Regarding graded essays, it could just be one of your essays from the English class. Just have a look at it again, look for errors and seek help from every source available to make it a good written work. What I have "heard" is that if your grades in English (eg. General Paper in A Levels) are really poor, it would be a bad idea to submit an essay that looks perfect. What I mean is just go by your standards and submit a well-written piece of work but nothing that doesn't look like your work. You can seek help from your teachers and get suggestions on improving it.
Many of the colleges I applied to required a graded essay and I submitted an essay I had written during my high school. (and it worked)
Other stuff for a graded essay would be a project work or something that looks like a research paper ( not a long one though) from your Econ, Sociology or other classes.

^Thnks a lot jasonshah and BNKS12.Now I have one less thing to worry about.
@neo-nietzsche-Choosing a college for ED is quite difficult.I'm quite clueless about the whole ED thing.
Also, on top of tht we need to look for safeties but it seems like for us there are no safeties.......

anyone sure about his/her ED??

well i am in my alvel 2nd year and i ma thinking of applying early. as a result i have got a tight schedule in my hand, first i have got TOEFL in mid september, then i have got my ACT in tihar and as soon as it finishes i have got my mid year exams coming. therefore its a lot of pressure,................

ANyways can anyone tell me if i made a mistake by taking ACT rather than the SAT

The one advice that I would like to give those who will be submitting their graded essay is that - " Don't Plagiarize" Meaning don't copy someone else's essay or idea just like that.. Plagiarism is considered as the single most serious academic offense a student can make .. in fact my college kicks student out even if they copy a sentence from someone else's work and don't cite it ... so, u can get drunk and break a window n the college will forgive you but if you plagiarize .. that's serious ..so be careful not to copy essay from the internet for eg from the websites like Wikipedia .. they'll know just like that ..n trust me colleges don't want student who cheats ..

Secondly, I would like all to apply Early Decision and Early Decision II (if applicable).. Becasue if you ask most top students studying at a top University here in the US .. you'll find one thing in common i.e most have been accepted in Early Decision..so go ahead and throw a shot . My one advice for ED would be to apply to a college that most other Nepali students don't apply to .. there are top schools that provide generous aids but are unknown to most other Nepalese students ..on the other hand there are schools like Grinnell and Dickinson that most students apply to ..so until n unless u have a hair raising stats it would be futile for u to apply to these popular and competitve school and for most part u would be wasting a valuable opportunity to get accepted ...trust me, I have been thro the whole addmission Process and have messed up once but realised the above later.. so think about it ..

I received a mail from ETS with the TOEFL preparation materials(PBT) but..........I didn't find my Admissions Ticket anywhere in the packet.......Will they mail me again seperately or did they make a mistake....probably by forgettin to put my Admissions ticket there???
Should I mail them and ask for my Admission Ticket....Or WHAT????I'm confused!!

i know nothing how to get up to study in USA in need base schlorship.can anybody here known about it can give me detail information from toefl to sat and there upto america to select top colleges.plz do let me know about it via mail or any other means as soon as possible.

College kills man, too many assignments!!!

Is this ok admin??? ;)

Hey manasm, how's Witt treating u so far??

Good, I suppose, but the assignments and due dates are killing me!!! Anyway weekend party rocks!!

hey ppl...im frm st. xavier's and joined this thread right now. My SAT I and TOEFL dates are 1st and 15th November 2008.
Im tryin to apply for fall 09. My major being Computer Science(at least that is what im thinkin right now...).
I wud like to know amI late for ED?
And...im totally confused with the college searching thing rite now...i have a fine and healthy list of colleges frm BOOK OF MAJORS but i dont know which one to pick up for the ED.
BTW I dont have good GPA (75.9% in aggregate ISc.) and I dont think i will get good score in SAT...no honestly. So univ like Stanford, MIT, etc wont ever accept me...thats y im seekin for kinda moderately competative univ...
I dont want to waste the precious ED lol...

Thank you.

@ diwas
many colleges and universities have their ED postmark deadlines on NOV15...so I guess your SAT and TOEFL score might not be available by that time!!

however there are also colleges with ED deadlines on December...and also many colleges do offer ED II which having deadlines somewhere near to those of RD deadlines!!!
SO still you can try for ED!!!
and by saying "moderately competitive univ", which kinda univ are u trying to refer to????

This thread seems to be losing its momentum!!....c'mon ppl dont let it die deliberately!!...if not anything, jus share your STATS, coll plans and so on!!

Any EDs for trinity coll, connecticut, Gettysburg???
heard there will be more than a dozen EDers for Lafayette this time in total from Budhanilkantha, St. Xaviers, Malpi and Rato Bangla!!!

Thanks neo.
Well by moderate competitive univ i mean not ivy league or MIT or Stanford...u know like they are highly competitive. What i desire to know is univ which is less competitive and who offer a good sum of financial aid.
Thank you.
