Commended scores are usually around 210 and Semi-finalist cutoff scores will range from 216-222 depending on the students and averages of each state. The range is determined by the top 50,000 scorers. In other words, the lowest of the 50,000 scores is the score needed to qualify.

^im pretty sure those are stats for national merit, not achievement

Commended scores are NOT at 210. At least not yet. It’s a nation wide cutoff more around 201-205.

My school is so slow with our scores! Has anyone taken the SAT yet? I took it last Saturday. It was ok. I’m not expecting a perfect score the first time around.

Expect low. You won’t ever be disappointed then. For the PSAT I assumed I got more wrong than the ones I omitted/had trouble with, and even then I was surprised.

I’m from Hawaii and I got a 213…

71 CR
74 M
68 W

I know like 20 people in my school who got better :(

You did better than me ;p I got a 208. And I don’t know anyone who got better than me yet.

My son just got his scores…from what we are being told, commendation begins around 200. Do we get letters in April to let us know what happens next?

One of his friends got a 218.

I got a 215…I live in Ohio. Goodness, I’m so scared!!

Are there like any cutoff estimates for each state?

Harry, I also live in Ohio. The cutoff here always seems to be 211-215… meaning that unless this is an unprecedented year, you’ll probably make NM. It’ll be close though.

Good luck!

Yeah, I’m hoping the cutoff is low this year.

Yeah … from Ohio also with a 216, barely hanging on T__T I’m hoping that curve won’t suddenly jump up from what it usually is.

Does anyone have an idea of the cut off for Michigan? I was pretty borderline…

The trend was 209 for 4 years and last year it went up to 210. Is it likely that it will jump again?

Does anybody know if NY’s cutoff changed from 219 this year?

Awww. I only got a 199, 96th percentile :frowning: The commendation cutoff is usually around 200-201, so I’d have to be very lucky…

@chillbro
i’m from MI too…
i sure hope it doesn’t jump…i got a 211…
way to close for comfort T_T

i got a 233 so i guess i qualify.
im from vermont

77 crit reading

I got a 205 and was in the 98th Pct. (national). the top 50,000 scores represent around the top 3 Pct. of test takers. hope that helped.
